Bard Extensions Is Here!
Hi WA Friends!
For those of you who use Google's AI, "Bard," today Google unveiled its Extensions capability.
Bard Extensions is a new way to interact and collaborate with Bard. It allows it to find and show you relevant information from the Google tools you use every day β like Gmail, Docs, Drive, Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights and Hotels β even when the information you need is across multiple apps and services.
Bard Extensions is currently in English, but Google is working to make it available in other languages in the future.
Here are some examples of how you can use Bard Extensions:
- Writing a document in Google Docs: Ask Bard to find relevant information from your Gmail inbox or Google Drive, or to summarize a research paper.
- Planning a trip in Google Maps: Ask Bard to find YouTube videos about the places you're visiting, or to translate the signs you'll see.
- Shopping for a product on Google: Ask Bard to compare prices from different retailers, or to read reviews from other customers.
- Working on a project with a team: Ask Bard to brainstorm ideas, or to help you manage your team's tasks.
Bard Extensions is still under development, but it has the potential to be a powerful tool for helping you get more done with the Google tools you use every day.
Get More Done With Apps - All In One Place
Bard can now respond with real-time info from Google Maps, Flights, Hotels, and YouTube, so you can get more done in one place.
Bard Helps You Automatically
To connect you with useful content, Bard may share parts of your conversations and other relevant info, like your location, with other services. These services may use that info for their improvement, even if you later delete your Bard activity. You can turn extensions off anytime on the Extensions page.
How Google Respects Your Privacy
Bard can only access your personal content from Google Workspace with your permission. It's not used to show you ads, improve Bard, or seen by human reviewers.
Evaluate Bard's Statements With Google Search
The new Google button helps you assess Bard's statements by using Google Search to find content that's likely similar or different.
Well, that's a basic summary of what you can do with Bard Extensions. Tell me what you think in the comments, AND ...

One thing I learned long ago is that there are 2 states in life, being alive and being dead. If you are lucky enough to have the former make the most of every moment and don't sweat the small stuff. And definitely don't worry about the big stuff
Thank you, ALL THE BEST TO YOU TOO, Frank!
I just delete question for you.
Some other time it's too late for that conversation.
Good night, Frank.
Enjoy your time.

Greetings,

Thanks. Bard does some things chatGPT doesnβt do, but google has a lot of catching up to do given that there are over 700 plugins for chatGPT. Google will figure it out!
Hi, Michael
Yes, Google is behind with Bard compared to OpenAI, but I believe they will catch up and even surpass OpenAI.
In addition to the Bard Extensions, Google released an updated version of Bard today, which is more capable.
It appears as if Bard will implement Chrome Extensions to work the way ChatGPT4 uses plugins.

I wish I could try these, but because I'm in Canada and that the Canadian government has this thing called the Bill C-18, Google has not released anything related to Bard in Canada in response to this stupid bill π.
There is a workaround and I did try Bard with a VPN, but to me, it's not the best method of accessing the internet and a VPN creates other problems. So I guess I'm stuck with ChatGPT and it's plugins...
Hi Denis
Yeah, that sucks! Still, ChatGPT4 is awesome in its own way.
I think a lot more Government restrictions on AI are coming in all parts of the world, some good and some bad.
Rock On! π€

Actually, Frank, Bill C-18 has nothing to do with AI.
It's a stupid piece of Canadian Government legislation that requires Meta (Facebook/Instagram, etc.) and Google "to provide fair compensation for the dissemination of news content via their platforms to Canadian News agencies."
Of course, these tech giants refused categorically to be imposed this kind of "penalty." In turn, they have decided that "in order to relieve their obligations under Bill C-18, they would no longer make news content available to users in Canada via their services."
Now, because of this, Google has not released it's AI to Canada as the big tech giant continues its fight with the federal government over the Online News Act!
So I am left out because of some news that I don`t even watch and a government so far up its own a$$ that it's out of touch with reality!
Haha, thatβs just ridiculous, Denis.
The US government is trying to impose restrictions on the type of publicly available info the AI can access and disseminate directly.
It could turn into a real mess very quickly!
