Hey, future online money maker. I hope how you are enjoying the training and completing all the tasks.
How is your progress so far?
Tell me how is your progress so far in the comment. It will motivate me a lot to give you more tips and also give hand in your journey.
On Day 3, you have learned the foundation of making money online.
Kyle and I were very clear and I hope you understand the making money online process.
Today, I will show you how you can choose a Domain name for your website that Google and other search engines love for better rankings...
This will be a very short post as Kyle will walk you through the process of registering your domain name.
I just want to add something to help you avoid some mistakes most newbies make when choosing a domain name.
Choosing a google friendly domain name will help you to avoid your website to perpetually trapped on page 2 or worse.
I will explain…
On Day 3 choose Keto Diet as my niche.
I will use "Keto Diet" to illustrate my points.
Most newbies will choose www.ketodiet.comas a domain name.
The issue is Keto diet is a Keyword phrase then your domain name will be an Exact Match Domain (EMD).
What is the Exact Match Domain?
An exact match domain is a domain that exactly matches a keyword phrase.
For example, "www.ketodiet.com" would be an EMD for the keyword phrase "keto diet".
It used to be a popular way to get higher search engine rankings because they were an easy way to get a keyword in the domain name.
However, Google has changed their algorithm to devalue EMDs, so they are no longer as effective as they once were.
EMDs are also considered spammy websites.
You need to avoid them. It is not like they don’t work anymore.
They certainly still do have an almost unfair advantage in ranking simply for having the keywords in the URL).
However, they have a much higher chance of getting hit with over-optimization problems.
Let’s say you decide to look for another domain name and you choose www.myveganplan.com.
Simply having one word of the keyword phrase in your domain name automatically puts your domain name in the Partial Match Domain (PMD) category
What is a Partial Match Domain?
A partial match domain is a domain that includes a keyword as part of the domain name.
Although you can get ranked with a partial match domain with good content, you may be at risk with future Google updates.
If your content has a keyword as in your domain name, Google could see the repetition of the word as keyword stuffing and penalize you.
In this case, branded domains are the perfect choice in most situations…
What is a Branded Domain?
Branded domains include none of the target keywords in the domain name.
Most of the major domains that Google loves like WebMD, Forbes, Amazon, Wikipedia, etc.
The best domain name needs to have 1 to 3 words.
In this case, I will choose www.feedyourday.com
Let me explain with an example.
Let's say you write an article or post about Vegan Diet for Beginners
Your URL will be:
Exact Match Domain: www.vegandiet.com/vegandietforbegineers
Partial Match Domain: www.myveganplan.com/vegandietforbegineers
Branded Domain: www.feedyourday.com/vegandietforbegineers
As you can see in EMD and PMD they are repetitions of words in the URL and Google will see your article or post as keyword stuffing and penalize you.
On the Banded Domain, there are no repetitions of words.
The only words you find in the URL are what you want to rank for. That is why branded domain names are considered the best domain name.
I hope it makes more sense now...
This process of choosing your domain name will take you less than 15 minutes to find an available domain name.
Do not overthink coming up with a perfect domain name. Just choose a simple name and easy to remember.
On Day 5 I will show you how to get unlimited content ideas. That's all for today folks if you are behind with the training.
I will advise you to go back and complete all the tasks.
All the best...
