could i say this is progress?
Hello people here at Wealthy Affiliate. This is my first Blog post being a member of Wealthy Affiliate. For some who might have checked the date of my joining this forum it would be a surprise to say this is actually my first. I joined wealthy affiliate on 25th December 2015 and since then I have been encouraged and discouraged by so many things but I have decided to hold on only to those things that encouraged me. But will this be accounted for as progress?
It is progress, even though no monetary gains yet and the fact that I go off and on at so many point of my stay here due to my educational responsibility. It is a walk of progress thus far for another reason. Before now, I never thought I could build a site but now I have not only built one but I now run a site all by myself. Is that not part of an achievement? Indeed it is part of success. But in the midst of all these a doubt is in my mind; a very small doubt. Will I make it here? I think I will. If others can do it why can't I?
All the success stories I have heard are encouragements. My plans and goals for the future are to be able to give good content and to offer to those who come to my site that which they seek. Besides, I forgot to mention that at least I have a good ranking in Google. Nice one really. Congrats on your website and your first post! You should be so proud and do not get discouraged. Success is not only measured by sales and how much money you made last week or month. You have learned so much and should be so proud of where you are going. The money will come in time. Just keep going and I know you will get there. That is all apart of life, I am afraid. Some days are better than others. There will be times that you feel more discouraged but remember that it is only a temporary and fleeting feeling. Do not let that negativity consume you or your thoughts because it just isn't worth it.
I checked out your website and I have some quick feedback for you. This is my personal opinion and I mean no offense in saying any of these things. They are my recommendations but you have to ultimately decide what works for you, your website, and your site's mission. Here goes:
1) First thing I noticed is that your photo is very blurry. It does not seem to be the correct size. I saw it again further on but it was small and clear. Can you download the same image but in a larger version? If you need more photos, here is my new favorite FREE website. Check it out: https://pixabay.com/
2) I was confused by your menu for a moment. I then realized that it was 3 lines. Can you shorten it, maybe condense a few items or add subcategories? Kyle recommends have a single easy to view menu.
Here is a helpful menu training: WordPress Dashboard Tutorial - Custom Menus And here is another: Creating A Review Menu Tab With Drop Down Categories 3) Some posts/pages were a bit short. I aim for 1000-1500 words per page/post but I know it is hard to always have that much in each. Also, photos are great but do not put too many in too small of an article or it comes across as distracting.
4) If you like the dark green background then go for it but honestly, I think a white background is fresh and easier to read. If you stick with the green I would change the pinkish/purple color you have to something that would fit with green more. Easy to see and read of course but more of a matching color theme.
I hope I am of some help to you. Again, this is just my opinion. You've done so much though and should be so proud. Keep going!
