OK! Where Did 10 Days Go?
No, I mean like really where did 10 Days go? Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day
Ten days into the first month of SWAG and I'm feeling the burn?
You know, like the muscle burn from lactic acid build up after a good workout.
Yes, the good burn, but instead of pecs, quads and biceps, it's hippo-campus, cerebral cortex, corpus callosum, and maybe even the madulla oblongata that are reaping the benefits and burn of a SWAG WORKOUT.
I'm not quite as far as I wanted to be for the challenge. I am behind in posts, but way ahead in word-count.
The first hurdle of my work pressure is relaxing a bit. In the first 10 days, I ended up having to do four 12 to 16 hour shifts due to my catering bookings. It's hockey season, and I get a lot of teams that end up at the hotel and wanting last minute breakfast buffets, to lunches and even a few dinners. One day was all three meals, hence the sixteen hour shift.
Don't get me wrong, I do love my job. it's fun and I meet a lot of great people, but it can get demanding at times. Last week was one of those times.
With SWAG Progress, I am behind in posts, but now that work has eased up a bit, I can focus. I still managed to get some keyword research done.
Wrote two full posts totalling 3359 words, and two profile blog posts (including this one). And I've outlined the next two posts for my site.
That will still leave me about a post behind for the challenge, but I still will get there.
And then a funny thing happened on the way to the Google.
The first post I wrote during the SWAG challenge was a review for SiteRubix. I spent quite a while doing keyword research for SiteRubix simply because I know there would be many posts written over the years by WA member etc.
I found a keyword that had really good AVG and QSR and I started to build my post around that keyword.
I do like to use my own examples in posts when I'm trying to explain something. To explain the difference between a sub-domain and regular domain name, I created a sample I called BestFruitJuicerEver in a .siterubix.com sub-domain and illustrated how to transfer that sub-domain to your own domain. I even included a picture of a manual orange juicer just to break up the text a bit.
Well wouldn't you know it. Goodle ranked me for Best Fruit Juicer Ever, and ranked me higher in SERP than the keyword I was targeting. I'm wondering if I should put a small disclaimer at the heading of the post,
"If you've landed here looking for the best fruit juicer ever, I'm sorry Google has had a slight aneurysm, for this post is about the SiteRubix Hosting Platform. But if you'd like to try my favorite juicer the MangoBlaster2000 is available at amazon"
No, I won't do that either. I don't even know if there is MangoBlaster2000.
But I did just complete another review on Jaaxy, and in that one I used the Instant Pot as an example using the Alphabet soup method and other keyword methods. If Google ranks me for Instant Pot, you bet I'll add an amazon link to Instant Pot - They're really hot right now :)
No, I won't do that one either, but it's tempting.
Anyway SWAGGERS, onward and upward as they say. I've got to keep those neurons firing to keep the burn going!

This is funny. Just shows you that google can be tricked into ranking inappropriate posts for what the user actually wants.
I wouldn't leave money on the table though...

If they rank you for the instant pot, go for it! I bought one for me and one for each of my 4 daughters for Christmas last year and love it, lol!
I'm thinking that I might just do that :)
My daughter got one for Christmas too, and that's what gave me the idea of using it as an example for the post.
Thanks for stopping in :)
