Errors when setting up SEO with Google Search Console and Google Analytics
Errors when setting up SEO with Google Search Console and Google Analytics
Setting up SEO with Google Search Console and Google Analytics can be tricky, and there are several common errors to watch out for!
1. Incorrect Verification:
Ensure you've verified ownership of your website correctly in both Google Search Console and Google Analytics. Common methods include adding meta tags or uploading HTML files. Verify that you've done this accurately.
2. Mismatched URLs:
Make sure the URLs you're tracking in Google Analytics match the ones in Google Search Console. Inconsistencies can lead to data discrepancies.
3. Robots.txt Issues:
Check your website's robots.txt file to ensure it's not blocking Googlebot or other search engine crawlers from accessing important pages. Misconfigured robots.txt can harm SEO.
4. Missing Sitemap:
Submit an XML sitemap in Google Search Console to help search engines index your site efficiently. Verify that it's up to date and error-free.
5. Not Setting Goals in Analytics:
Failing to set up goals in Google Analytics means missing out on valuable insights. Define goals for conversions, pageviews, or other important actions.
6. Ignoring Mobile Optimization:
With the shift to mobile-first indexing, ensure your website is mobile-friendly and that your SEO strategy considers mobile users.
7. Ignoring Page Speed:
Slow-loading pages can hurt SEO. Monitor your website's speed in Google Analytics and use tools like PageSpeed Insights to optimize.
8. Duplicate Content:
Avoid duplicate content issues, as they can lead to ranking problems. Use canonical tags and ensure your content is unique.
9. Neglecting Technical SEO:
Check for issues like broken links, 404 errors, and crawl errors regularly. Fix them to improve your site's overall SEO health.
10. Not Monitoring Regularly:
Both tools require ongoing monitoring. Regularly check for errors, updates, and changes in search trends to adjust your SEO strategy accordingly.
11. Ignoring Data Privacy:
Be mindful of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) when using Google Analytics. Ensure you have the necessary consent mechanisms in place.
12. Inadequate Keyword Research:
Failing to conduct proper keyword research can lead to suboptimal SEO results. Use keyword tools to identify relevant keywords for your content.
By avoiding these common errors and staying updated on best practices, you can set up and maintain effective SEO with Google Search Console and Google Analytics. π
I hope this helps a little π

I had the google robot error yesterday out of the blue while trying to push a new post. I had seen it before, but just refreshing the request seemed to make it go away. Yesterday not so.
So I reached out to support and they suggested resubmitting my sitemap. Not sure why that would help and maybe it was just a coincidence but that seemed to do it.
Definitely a great reminder here my Fleeky friend!
Much appreciated as always and enjoy a wonderful start to the weekend! :-)
Thank you Jessie!
Have a great end of week as well.
Hope weather is fine at your end
We are covered with snow, heavy winds and freezing temperatures for a week now.
