Many lanterns are beginning to reveal one path

Many lanterns are beginning to reveal one path.
Every week, I take some time to wander through the blogs here.
Let me share what happened last week.
I read.
I scratch my head.
Sometimes I read again. 😂
I leave a comment, disappear down the occasional rabbit hole, bump into a philosophical wall, borrow a metaphor, and move on.
But this week something funny happened.
The blogs were about very different things.
AI workflows.
Borrowed IQ.
Building businesses.
Job security.
Perfection.
Consistency.
Training.
Sovereignty.
Algorithms.
Domain flipping.
Starting again after ten years.
Quite a forest.
And yet...
many lanterns are beginning to reveal one path.
So, shall we trott it?
One lantern said: AI carries the lantern; curiosity still chooses the path
Another: The compass gets smarter; the traveller still chooses the destination.
Then: A diamond may sharpen a diamond; it cannot choose the cut.
And somewhere farther down the road: The best path has gates, not walls.
Hmm.
Do you see it?
I think I do.
First came the ROOT
Before AI, before workflows, before affiliate links, before websites...
What are you actually trying to do?
What matters to you?
What problem are you solving?
Who are you serving?
We can have fifteen business ideas, fifty AI tools and five hundred prompts.
But fifteen doors may all open with the same small key:
purpose.
Then came the COMPASS
AI changes an enormous amount.
It can research. Draft. Compare. Organize. Suggest. Challenge. Automate.
And occasionally hallucinate with tremendous confidence. 😏
But there is something it still cannot decide for me:
Where do I want to go?
The compass gets smarter.
The traveller still chooses the destination.
Then we found the PATH

Training gives us paths.
Experience gives us paths.
Workflows give us paths.
And AI can make those paths considerably faster to travel.
But I learned something while building workflows myself:
closed paths fail.
Real work doesn't behave politely.
A → B → C → D sounds lovely until, halfway through C, you discover that you need to return to A, skip B, investigate something completely unexpected and come back tomorrow through another door.
So perhaps:
The best path has gates, not walls.
A workflow should help us continue.
Not trap us inside its own logic.
And then... the GATES
This may be the part that interested me most.
Who decides?
The AI?
The workflow?
The platform?
The corporation?
The algorithm?
Me?
One discussion called it sovereignty.
Another called it human oversight.
Another warned us not to stop thinking.
Different lanterns.
Same path.
Perhaps the most important human skill in an AI-rich world will not be knowing more.
AI already knows more than I ever will.
Perhaps it will be discernment.
Knowing what to accept.
What to question.
What to change.
What to ignore.
And what not to automate.
If everybody can borrow the IQ, discernment becomes rather precious.

Finally, the HORIZON
And here something else became visible.
Roots grow quietly before the tree becomes visible.
The road became the workshop.
Perfection keeps polishing the key while courage simply opens the door.
Experience does not shorten the road. It teaches us which road is worth taking.
Different blogs.
Different people.
Different experiences.
But again and again, they seem to whisper the same thing:
Move.
Not recklessly.
Not blindly.
Not because AI told you to.
Move because you have enough light for the next few steps.
Learn. Adjust. Return. Choose again.
Perhaps that is what all these lanterns have been showing me.
ROOT > COMPASS > PATH > GATES > HORIZON
Know what matters.
Choose your direction.
Use the tools.
Keep some gates under your own hand.
And walk far enough to discover what you could not see from where you started.
Or trott.
Trotting is allowed.
After all...
The tool may widen the horizon.
It cannot tell us why we want to reach it.
And perhaps next week, another lantern will change the path again.
That is half the fun of reading blogs and comments.
