SEO is a very extended and harsh subject indeed.
And learning all those steps is the foundation of your SEO.
On your worpress dashboard you have posts and pages, tags and categories. Submitting a post and page sitemap is best when you start your website.
A sitemap contains a lists of all your posts, pages and eventually taxonomies (categories and tags)
For starters the seo plugin is provided.
Make sure to create a profile in google and add your domain for authentification
Install google site kit and connect
I hope this clarifies a little?
I meself after testing lots of plugin use rankmath seo. It comes with a free version as well. I do not recommend it for starters. However, I do recommend their youtube channel, which explains all in details, the how and why. And I am sure you will find many answers there.
