1,000 Dormant Referrals!
1,000 Dormant Referrals & the Lessons They Whispered to Me
Why I Stopped Pushing, Started Listening, and Found a Better Way to Nurture
I didn’t join WA to sell.
I joined to learn ... to write better, to tell stories, to shape thoughts more clearly.
I wanted to refine my voice, my poetry, and maybe my understanding of how websites work.
But along the way, something surprising happened.
People signed up ... not just a few. Over 1,000 referrals came through.
And then… silence.
No questions. No engagement. No “I’m stuck, help me.”
Just... nothing.
For a while, I thought: I must be doing this all wrong.
Then I realized: I wasn’t doing anything wrong ... I just wasn’t doing what they needed.
What I Got Wrong
I never set out to convert.
My blog wasn’t a funnel. My words weren’t crafted to sell.
They were honest. Poetic. Thoughtful. Human.
But for many who clicked through… maybe they thought WA was a poetry platform.
Maybe they saw my work and thought, “I want to write like this.”
And when the dashboard didn’t reflect that dream, they faded away.
I didn’t clarify what WA was ... or wasn’t.
I didn’t guide them gently into alignment.
I simply… created.
Why I Never Believed in Pushing
I’ve tried “push” strategies ...they never felt right.
Because you can’t push someone into trust.
You can’t force someone to walk a path they don’t yet see.
So instead, I stayed.
I showed up. I wrote. I answered. I watched. I listened.
And I began to notice something:
The ones who stayed… stayed for me, not the marketing.
What I’m Learning Now
Dormant referrals aren’t failures ...they’re feedback.
They whispered: "You're being heard ... but not yet understood."
So now, I’m building again.
This time with a bit more structure:
- A nurturing flow that still feels like poetry
- Gentle invitations instead of silent links
- Messages rooted in clarity, not hype
For Anyone Who’s Felt the Same
If you’ve gathered followers, subscribers, or referrals ... and they’ve all gone quiet...
You’re not broken. You’re just early in your refinement.
Your message might be soft. Your tone might be different.
That’s okay. Let it be. But let it evolve too.
You don’t need to push.
You just need to invite, clearly, and kindly.
I can hear you whisper... what is she doing?
Patience ... it will unfold. 👀

No pressure here, no need to stay,
But should you wish, you know the way.
A click, a look, a quiet roam,
Might turn this space into your home.
Morning!
Yes... most of us.

Hi!
Best is to engage a conversation, as you do with me (forget the prompts for now). Expose your problem and ask for guidance on how you best proceed...
Let me know, ...😏

Sometimes after your referrals come to WA, it's not what they want to do or it's not for them. There are "just looking." So even if you reach out and contact them or help them along, they don't stay because of you or not because of you. We can put our best guidance and offer assistance, but in the end it's up to them. You are doing something right to even get them to check out WA. All the best in your online business endeavors.
... "In the end it is up to them"...
thank you Kay
It also points towards audience...
How do you coop with that?

Very good insights here Fleeky, thanks for sharing. I think it all comes down to setting out with a plan. A plan to engage, to encourage interaction, and this will serve as a bridge to create trust.
Trust is required for all conversions, and all action. That is our absolutely goal when starting out with any marketing agenda. :)
Yes... strategy is key... my strategy was learning, mastering first. It took a lot of time with life intertwining ... transparency, truth and trust indeed... stepping up... as you noticed... with help of AI...
Thank you Kyle
