Do You Consider Waiting A Way To Take Action?
Today's quote addresses a too-common problem. Our quote comes from Abraham Lincoln -- Here it is. "Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle."
Are you a procrastinator? How far do you think you'll go if you keep putting things off? The way out of the procrastination trap is to take action. Do something, even if it's just a little thing. Just get out there and do it!
If you are faced with a big project and put off beginning it because it seems too overwhelming, try this: Break the project down into tiny pieces, put in some kind of order. Then begin. Take that first step. Do the first item on the list.
Just think of it this way: If you keep putting off what you need to do, you are wasting life. Each of us has only so much of that precious commodity, and if we don't use it wisely we will simply run out of time. We'll fritter away our precious hours and days.
Think about the goal you are reaching for. Is it really important? If so, then it's time for action. All it takes is a step at a time, but we have to be willing to make that first step. Go to work. Learn by doing. If you fail, consider it a lesson learned, and try again.
I have a friend who, when she's confronted by a distasteful task, simply says, "Get 'er done." If you can adapt such an attitude, you can overcome your resistance to doing something. Start, and you may find that it's easier than you thought it would be.
If it isn't easy, it's a lesson well-worth learning. Just think: If you sat on a chair holding an unseen tack, wouldn't you jump up? Consider the tack your motivator and do something -- anything, to break the procrastination pattern.
Don't fall in the trap of thinking you'll have more time later. There is only a limited amount of time, and by procrastinating, you are wasting that valuable commodity. So, friends, don't wait -- do it now!

Yup. Tomorrow is not promised to us. Even while we are waiting for an action to take place, there are usually things we can do in the interim. Thanks for your post, Fran! 😊

You're welcome, Hazel. I've been there today -- computer has been acting crazy, so have had to do other stuff in the interim.
I totally agree with you, Fran, but since I am self-employed, and things can go any number of ways, I tend to go with the flow, and improvise when it proves to be necessary. Then I try to get things I missed during the day taken care of in the evening. It's not really procrastination on my part, but rather improvisation. I must have learned that in the Army--Improvise and Overcome. Another Great post, my friend.

Time is indeed the most precious commodity we have and the one we will never get back...
I'm all for balance in life but if there is an important task that needs to be done, don't hang around and do it NOW!!
Why wait until tomorrow or the day after??
Breaking down big tasks into smaller manageable ones will always see us moving forward if we take action!

Reading this made me think of when my dad would tell me to eat an elephant one bite at a time when I'd get overwhelmed by a task. This is sensible and encouraging advice, as we only have so much time. Hope all is well with you, Fran. :-)

Yes, I have used that saying too -- it's a good one.
I'm fine, but my computer is really acting up. Having trouble getting my work done. There is no one in our little town that can work on it.
