The Importance of Making and Completing Short-Term Goals
Immediately when I made the decision to become a premium member of wealthy affiliate I knew I had to make some goals. I am a strong believer in making both short term and long term goals in order to achieve success. When I joined premium just five short days ago, my first goal was to create my website and write one article in just three days. On Friday, November 14, (3 days later) just before midnight, I was able to complete my goal! I knew I was tired and my body was telling me to go to bed but I forced myself to complete my goal and I was so glad that I had! If you make a goal and the deadline has passed it becomes difficult to get on track again. I can imagine that if I had not completed my goal by Friday night, it still would not be done, because I would keep putting it off. It is better to push toward your goal then to let the days go by and procrastinate. Nothing can really be accomplished without a goal or vision in mind.
I encourage everyone to make REALISTIC weekly and daily goals working towards bigger, more long-term goals. For example, my goal this week is to put together AT LEAST 3 more posts each between 500-1000 words. I say "at least" because this gives me the mindset that I can surpass my goal and accomplish more than I planned. Having realistic short-term goals goals is crucial to being successful. The ideal goal will challenge you to push yourself but will not discourage you to the point of failure. If I set a goal to create the most successful website on Google by the end of the week, my result would be utter failure. Regardless of how hard I tried, I would not be able to achieve such a task in a week. Unrealistic goals create a mindset of wanting to give up because of the constant failure. Success is something that will happen after many hours of hard work, but by setting goals the process becomes much easier.
I challenge you to create some goals for this week and get them done. Make a commitment to your goals and you will feel beyond satisfied with what you can do.
