Covid-19 Government Home Screening Programme.
The South African Government is currently rolling out an extensive field screening programme to get South Africans tested for Covid-19 virus.
In the next coming days around 10 000 field workers will visit homes in urban and rural areas to test for the virus.
To ensure the safety of the community, the following criteria will be met:
- Field workers will have ID badges so that can be easily identified.
- All fieldworkers will wear same T-shirts and will be required to carry their official ID documents.
- Police officers will accompany fieldworkers to protect the community that is being screened as well as field workers themselves.
- Community leaders will be alerted about the presence of field workers in their areas.
- Tests can be done outside your home.
There was a speculation that the testing swabs are already infected with the virus a few days ago before this announcement was made public. I personal think this home testing is going to get more people infected because the same field workers that tested the person that is infected in my street/community will be the same fieldworkers that will test me and my family and the virus can be carried by the testing worker and be passed on to other members of the community. My question is, is it a good idea to get tested by these field workers?

Hi Fiona. In my opinion, your Govt is taking very drastic approach to contain the spread of Convid-19 among their citizen. If it is done professionally, it is good to be in early detection than regret later.
In Malaysia, our Govt approach is to do screening for those with indication of sore throat, dry cough & high fever. High risk when they are already in advance stage..

Thank you Syed for your comment much appreciated, as a nation we do want this contained but we also do not know if this is for good intentions or not we have to find that out very soon. It has the good side and the bad side at the moment we do not know if what people are saying is the truth that the swaps are infected by the virus already. We will see what will happen in the next few days.
I am not in South Africa so I am not familiar with the process they would use.
First testing everyone will help. If someone is a carrier they will know and quarantine them more strictly.
As for testing one right after the other, here is what I would request and if they refuse then I would not be tested. All of these steps in front of you.
1. They take off their gloves
2. Use hand sanitizer or wash hands
3. Put on a new pair of gloves that are from a sealed package or a box of new gloves.
4. Prepare the testing supplies
5. Sanitize the gloves they have on with hand sanitizer or soap and water.
6. Make sure they have on a mask and do not touch their face or old supplies with the gloves hands
I know this sounds crazy involved. But I think it is a safe way.

Thank you Laura for your comment it is very helpful , l am sure if l use your method they will definitely make sure l contract the virus :). Most people here in SA are ill intentional so l do not trust what they are doing is good for people. And all l heard is that it is compulsory. I will use ear buds to test me and my family and put in plastic bags with our names for them and leave it on the ground for them. But l will go with your plan if l fail using mine.
Hi Fiona, I personally think you should NOT allow this test to be carried out on you or your family. My opinion may not be grounded on facts right now, but the risk involved is too great to take a chance on it.
I won't be able to advise you on exactly how you can avoid being tested but I seriously think you should avoid it at all cost until you have enough evidence that there is no ill-intent at play here.
Have the leaders of South Africa been tested yet? Let the public officials set the example first, then the rest can follow. If the plan is to simply carry out mass testing on the general population, then I smell foul play.
People can be wicked and evil, especially in times like this. Don't let them use you or your family as a basis for an experiment.
Let there be enough evidence to support that this is actually for the benefit of everybody first.
Thank you Emmanuel for your comment it exactly what l intended to do look for evidence on how others react from this testing, They already started at some rural areas and in townships l am waiting for the results and will take it from there, l had my own plan on hand that i will do the testing for me and my family and put it in plastic bags with our names when they come i will put it on the ground and wake away as this is compulsory. l do not think the big people have tested one of them is fighting for his life at the hospital as we speak he was infected as they go in public with out having gloves or musk but they are providing it to people.
Good. Take an approach that works for you and stand by it!. They cannot force it on you. It will also help if you have a group of like-minded people who can stand with you. It could help when there is a unified voice. I really wish you all the best.

Ah great question. I think the intentions are reall good and it can be done safely, The things is new developments regarding the virus occure regularly and it is still not completely understood. First it was not airborn and masks wer unimportant and not the opposite. So how do we fully prevent when we do not know all the details?
