This is the beginning of something big if something is not done to prevent people from breaking the rules of the country lockdown.

Yesterday the Department of Health has confirmed the first coronavirus related deaths in South Africa. The first two COVID-19 fatalities occurred in the Western Cape, one at a public hospital and one at a private hospital

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has also informed the public that the number of coronavirus cases in the country have tipped the 1,000 mark. South Africa has begun a 21-day national lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

Country Synopsis:

To give a synopsis of what is currently occurring in the country in relation to confirmed COVID-19 patients:-

As of 27 March 2020, there were 1170 confirmed cases

Total number of patients in hospitals (both public and private)- 55

Total number of patients in ICU- 4

Total number of patients in ventilation- 3

Total number of recoveries- 31

Contacts of the patients that have been identified-4407

Contacts of the patients that have been traced - 3465

It is very surprising that people are still roaming around in the streets as if they are on holiday. In my own opinion if this continues the way it is now we will be finished before the Coronavirus finishes us.

Actually new strategies is needed to fight covid-19. Our people don't follow the precautions of Lockdown. Even the government officials are not following the correct measures l have seen most of them are not wearing masks or gloves and they are coming in contact with those people that are roaming around and the homeless.

Where is stay safe and keeping distance for these government officials and the people around them at home and in their offices more people are at risk because of people who think they are above Coronavirus.

I am very sure we are going nowhere slowly because people don't and couldn't follow simple rules for one day in lockdown to stay at home. I am now very worried for human kind.

If you do not take care of yourself no one will don't let Coronavirus take away your life stay safe and practice the safety measures. In Simple Words Stay At Home.

Have a great Saturday my WA Family be safe!!!

It is a major problem because many people ignore it and go on. They don't take it seriously because it has not happened to them or someone they know.

The US has now past all Countries and is major in several cities like New York, California and several more on the rise. I still think this is just an early stage and things will get a lot worse.

We are always supposed to look at the good side of things but I don't think there is one for this. All we can do is continue on and pray that a cure is found soon. Stay safe lady!!

Thank you Bobby l agree with you there is no good side of this we can stay positive all we want as long as there are those roaming around in the street causing more cases of the virus we can as well forget about seeing it gone soon. It will take longer than what they tell us especial that there is no cure.
I will stay safe and same to you!

Very true admonishment, Fiona! I've noticed here in Kansas USA that the youth seem to be culprits in this too, I'm driving alone in my work van going to a job, and passing by me on the opposite sides of the road are vehicles with 4-5 young people in them--many obviously not related.

I have to wonder to myself--why were the schools closed for the year only to allow the teenagers to roam in packs on the city streets--still very close together and congregating in groups at the public parks. I echo your plea, Fiona! STAY at HOME (if you must go out, do so alone and maintain your distance and take safety precautions) Be safe!

Jeff

Thank you Jeff, it is just a pity l can not share the videos from a phone to my Website l tried copying the URL to show you guys the chaos in some part of South Africa especially in townships. People do not seem to care one was asked what he was doing on the street and does he know anything about Coronavirus he answered l do not have anything to do with it.

This person was caught in the street drunk and he told the officers why are they harassing him he just went to drink his favourite drink, He told them if he was not allowed to drink the bottle store was not supposed to be open in the first place he was arrested and l am sure when he came to his senses he was already behind bars.

And there is more, Soldiers are now even going as far as biting people up because they refuse to self isolate. If l come right with sharing those videos you will see that over 60% of the human population will die by the time this corona is finished just because of ignorance and refusing to follow the correct procedures.

I have moved my office on Friday to my home now l will only go to work when there is emergencies.

I hope you can post those eventually, Fiona! It's good to know that you're now in a home office!

Keep safe!

Jeff

Thank you Jeff!

You're very welcome!

This news is certainly terrifying. Any death is heartbreaking, let alone many.

But allow me to add this positive note:

When faced with a challenge - particularly a dire challenge - humanity always rises to the occasion.

That is the beautiful aspect of the human spirit. We will get through this and be better and stronger than ever.

Bobby DM

Thank you Bobby for the words of encouragement, we will get through this.

A friend of mine needed to go into Ladysmith the day before lockdown and came back quite distressed at what he saw. Masses of people loaded to the tunnels with alcohol for the lockdown and mostly out for a good time. they see it as the greatest freebie - a 3-week vacation on full pay.

They were hugging and celebrating. He is concerned because of the extremely high HIV positive people and those who have TB as the secondary fallout from that who will be affected by the indiscipline.

These are the people that will be wiped out by this pandemic. And the indiscipline of the past 11 years modelled by the administration of the past president is now coming home to roost.

How I cry for the beloved country of my birth! Just grateful I'm not there to see this unfold because it grieves me so much.

My thoughts, Prayers and Heart is with you Fiona.

I agree with you as we see what the soldiers have been through in the 24 hours since the lockdown began people are still carrying alcohol in their cars, God knows where they are going with it possible at their friends houses. Some people are irresponsible and most will die because of it.

As in the days of Noah - people were eating and drinking.... Tragic, but you can only warn some. I went out on my allowed weekly shop and a young guy comes within a metre of me in the supermarket and talks right at me, saying he is carrying on as normal!

I have my wife at home with a serious underlying chest condition. Then he was off before I could say a word in response.

Yes, his breath was almost in my face too. The exception in Scotland, I must say but it only takes one superspreader.

I suspect that SA would be expecting the worst but need to act fast as the closer the society, the more people are infected.

l agree Dave the problem is that some businesses are closed others are opened and those who are opened are the ones that will take people to their graves as there are no social distancing when waiting on long queues. Let us hope SA has another plan.
Thank you Dave!

You have NO idea how impossible this is now Dave, if you don't come from Southern Africa. We will read the reports in the media in 6 months. A huge tragedy is about to unfold there.

Hi Fiona. Thank you. Stay safe.

l agree with you Chris!
