Do I stay or do I go?

Hi Folks,,

I would love to be able to write a post that isn’t all about me.

However I’m just a little frustrated with my website and I’m wondering should I stay at it or should I go onto another niche.

My site is in the ultra competitive health area when I compare the amount of pages on mine to the biggest health sites out there it’s going to take me years to get thousands of pages up.

That’s not to say that I haven’t had some sales

The traffic is just so inconsistent the site is nearly nine months old now and my visitor numbers have declined to just 20 per day

I am on page one for about six keywords

I have written 84 pages and 20 blog posts I have used Jaxxy to find the low hanging keywords I have done the training

My site has 325 back links and over 100 visitor comments

Has anybody made a success of a health website? How long did it take? How many pages did you have?

Thank you all so much for your support in the past

All the best

Fintan

The health niche is a huge market. Give it all time. It seems like you have done well, but have hit that slump that hits all of us from time to time. Step back, take a deep breath, look at how much you have accomplished, then jump in and try again. My advice: Stay! If you start over, you will set yourself back to the beginning again.

Hi FKelso,
Sorry I don’t know your first name.
Thank you very much for that piece of advice, you are so right in the sense if I stop now all my hard work over the last nine months will be in vain to a certain extent.

Fintan, I would say KEEP GOING! I'm not in the health niche but I am in the make-money-online niche, which is as competitive as health.

I was writing about the same amount of blog posts as you, 10 - 12 a month but it was not enough. In september, I changed my tactics and started publishing everyday.

At least you had a few sales within that time period until your 9th month. I had NOTHING! I had my first sale in october (my 10th month) and in november, I made 3 figures at $220!!!

What I learned is that the more competitive your niche, the more frequently you have to write to see results.

Don't give up, because something must have drawn you to that niche when you first started. If it's your passion, don't lose heart!!!

Write more frequently. Even if you increase your publishing frequency to 5 a week, you should see an improvement.

I hope this helps! If there's anything else, just holler!

Hi Reyhana,
Thanks so much for that piece of advice, you are probably correct the only way is to keep writing.
I was sort of losing the will to live after writing non stop for the first nine months.
If I could stop myself from looking at Google analytics every other hour it might also help.
I glad for you that your site is starting to make you some money.

You're very welcome, Fintan.

It was the same thing for me when I was at the 9 month mark, but I knew that success was possible for me, if it was possible for others.

I used to look at Google Analytics too. Actually, before the update in August 2018, I was averaging 150 - 200 visitors per day. Afterwards, I was only getting 50 - 80 a day. It was really HARD to see that all my hard work was not bringing me anywhere. If anything, I was moving backwards.

But by writing more, my average is a little higher now, at 100 - 120 per day. Nothin like it was before, but definitely getting better and better.

What's awesome is that I still made sales!

We just have to realize that the more articles we put out there, the more gateways we have for visitors to get to our website. If you have 500 articles and let's say only 300 of them are very current and active, and let's say you only get 2 visitors per article per day, that's 600 visitors to your website a day.

That's why the number of published content is important!

I wish you good luck and keep ploughing on! Success will come!

Hi Fintan - I am a newbie so I can offer little. I do think you should continue as you seem to have the passion that will continue to drive you to your goals. What's done is done, your foundation is set. Good luck to you. Mike

Hi Mike,
Thank you for replying to my post
Maybe I’m just being impatient
you are correct I have had some really good results myself from the natural health products on my site
That is what drove me to want to share my story
Hope all is going well for you

That is indeed a competitive niche. There was a reason you chose it - something that makes you passionate about it. There must have been something special that you wanted to bring to your site to share with the world. Focus on that. Let your passion about that specific area shine through. Don't write for word count, don't necessarily write for keywords. Write for your readers about what matters most to you. Help them solve a problem. That will help your site grow as well.

Hi Jeaninne,
Thanks for the advice and support
Much appreciated

Hi Fintan. At 84 pages and 20 posts with 325 backlinks and you have had some sales, you really should keep going. 9 months is nothing these days, especially in a competitive niche.
Keep the faith and keep going. It will pay off

Hi John,
Thanks very much for your encouragement.
I hope things are going well for you.
