Frustrating Legal Hurdle - Minnesota E-Commerce Tax Laws

So after going premium and getting excited about turning my existing podcast site into a revenue generator, I was just reminded by an attempt to become an Amazon affiliate that my home state of Minnesota last year imposed a bizarre new tax burden on e-commerce retailers which prompted Amazon to stop doing business with Minnesota affiliates. This is very frustrating news.

I have a plan to deal with it. I'm not sure of its viability. But I'm not going to stop trying.

Look into setting up an LLC or company in another state. Have an address there that you can use for Amazon in that state. Find out about the tax laws of the state you organize your entity. Some states even if you produce no revenue require you to pay a minimum tax. So do your research and do contact a professional. It does cost money now for a professional but can save you lots later on if you encounter a problem. Debbie

Thanks. That's along the lines of what I was thinking.

That's the best thing to do, don't let get you down just come with an alternate plan. There are lots of other affiliate programs that you can use.
