Introduction-Assess our Progress

Sometimes, actually nearly all the time it is very difficult to see how far we have progressed as individuals on our entrepreneurship journey. The main reason for this is that when we look back to assess our progress we generally look back as far as this morning or last evening.

What if we took a second and instead looked back to exactly one week ago and realized all we have learned in that week. Go one further, look back to one month ago and I am sure you may shock yourself!! That's what I have done in preparation for writing this post and I can assure you, I was pleasantly shocked!!

The Passionate Niche

Maybe this heading may cause confusion and raise a few eyebrows but most of your fellow entrepreneurs know what i mean about choosing a niche and being 'passionate' about it.

Although there is nothing good to say about the current world pandemic(and rightly so) I am going to poke my head above the parapet here and acknowledge that covid 19 did one good thing for me.

I was working 50 to 60 hours per week in 3 different jobs and I hadn't time to think. Maybe that is the way the world is designed nowadays, to have us rushing around so much that we can't see the days flying past us! Just trying to make ends meet and realizing that when we stop working the income also stops!

I am hoping that many of you can see where I am going here and possibly your were also in that same position and with the slow down of the world due to the pandemic,(working from home etc) you also now had time to sit back and reflect!

I personally was reflecting on what kind of idiot I had been charging around like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off. So my goal became to slow down, create a passive income and most importantly show and teach people how to rid themselves of that daily 9 to 5 struggle(9 to 5 if you were lucky!) by doing the same as me!

Measuring Success by Creating Goals

How is this done? Well a lot of people will tell you it is by the size of your monthly check. But is this true in your book. What is true is that the money is nice and can't be ignored as it is one of the factors that keeps our morale up and going. But what if this number was minuscule or non-existent? Could you keep going then.

To build our online business correctly which means for the long term, it is important that we put in place the correct building blocks and not rush to that shiny pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, it may not be there when we get there!!

Therefore, what is much more important for the longevity of our business is to set goals. Set daily goals, set weekly goals, then set monthly goals. What goes in hand with this is mindset. Perhaps you are not hitting your goals., perhaps life is getting in the way, perhaps you are making excuses!!.

Whatever the reason, the above factors will help you built that solid foundation and insure the long term success of your business!

Thanks Adrian,

I need to be reminded often especially of goals.

All the best

Hi Adrian
Every step in a plan can be thought of as a goal. I.e. I agree with you.
