My First Sales Page - Lessons Learnt

I joined Wealthy Affiliate a short while ago and I am still going through the training and building my website. It is a very in depth and genius training for many reason. One of the reasons is that it is broken down into elements so people with absolutely no experience (such as myself) can understand it and follow it without being overwhelmed.

In fact I found that the minute I go and start poking around outside the training I get overwhelmed. The amount of material, knowledge and options seems infinite so it is hard to navigate which way to go.

Wealthy Affiliate is like a road with the correct road signs to follow to success. Not to mention it makes the process really joyful. I am having such a great time every time I do a training module and then the exercises.

This is all great BUT this is not the best part in Wealthy Affiliate however awesome this is. The BEST part is the people in WA. Yes, YOU Dear reader and everybody in the system. My experience has been incredible so far. Any time I have a question or even think of a question it is either already in the system or if I type it in within minutes I get an answer. And not just an answer a fantastic answer! People here are truly helpful and supportive. This also brings me to the incredible motivational boost I get every time I visit WA. Thank you so much for everyone at WA. At this point I just want to pay it back and forward. I am still a newbie but I hope one day I can be one of you wonderful, experienced WordPress or marketing or website or etc. wizards and help others like you are helping me and holding my hands throughout this journey. I feel so fortunate that I found WA.

This post is about my first ever sales page which a different project from my website I build with WA right now. I wrote an eBook in July called “The Ultimate Stress Release Success System: Practical Stress Management Techniques for Every Situation” and I finally published it on amazon last month. I really wanted to use the training I learnt here to create a sales page and thank you page etc. for this eBook. I am a complete newbie but I was able to do this with the help of WA. Thank you so much for all the help. There are many things I learnt that I would like to share with you. Some you might already know some I hope can be useful.

When I started I had no idea what to do or how to do it. So I went into clickbank and looked for a similar type of salespage on a similar digital product. I found one that I liked and was very successful and I decided I will learn as much as I can from that site and the components. I knew I needed a compelling sales page or pitch page, a Thank you page, and a page where the product can be downloaded from after purchase.

First I designed on a piece of paper what I wanted my page to look like. I had my book cover designed. I think it is totally worth the money using a designer unless you are a professional designer yourself. He also designed me a theme for wordpress with the header and footer. When I started working on the site I had no clue what to do so the kind wordpress wizards in WA helped me tremendously to get this theme into wordpress and how to make it look decent. Then I wrote up the sales page highlighting the problem and offering solutions that the book provides to help. I ran into many problems as I was working on the page regarding editing, or how to put a box around a text etc. Again all of these were resolved as I kept asking questions and within minutes the answers were provided by a WA angel. How awesome is that!!!

The next challenge came when I wanted to set up a payment button. First I wanted to set this up with clickbank so I started to read through all the clickbank documents. It was pretty confusing. It is still my plan to put the product in clickbank but I put that on hold for now. The wonderful WA friends recommended the easiest and most practical solution for receiving payments from the website: Paypal. It really is true. This could not be any simpler for payments through the website. I created a PayPal Merchant account and simply followed the instruction paypal provides for setup.

Next came setting up a payment button on the website. I was in trouble again and of course asked a question in WA. The miracle happened within minutes and I had the answer. I discovered Canva and Pickmonkey to design pretty much anything including an awesome payment button. I am still working on that. There are so many options. For now however I downloaded a plugin called “PayPal Buy Now Button”. This again could not be easier. Set up the button and just click and put it on the sales page.

Finally, I was almost done then I realized I still need to have a page where the buyers can go to download the book they paid for on my Thank you page. So after payment the Thank page comes up that contains a link where the product can be directly downloaded. I went with Mediafire and set up an account for free and uploaded the product there and put the link to it on the thank you page.

Viola the sales page was born and it was fully functional! Thank you WA friends!!!

The next step is to drive traffic to it and actually sell the book… but that is the topic of another blog or two or three…;)

Here are the action steps for setting up the sales page:

1. Ask questions in WA!
2. Learn from an already successful sales page you like
3. Map out what you want your salespage to look like
4. Create a compelling sales page
5. Create a Thank you page
6. Set up Paypal merchant account
7. Put Paypal button on page and set it up
8. Find a site you can use for landing page to download the product (like Mediafire)

and Viola you are done and ready to sell your awesome book.
