Still trying, watching, listening, reading, ...

So I've redone course 1 from scratch.

Deleted one of my "prototype" pages, took the leap of faith and went premium, and now built three pages, with which I decided to run.

Well, actually they are no more than the basic skeletons with home, about me and privacy page.

I picked two of what I believe to be lucrative niches (fitness / mass gaining on a budget and video gaming) plus one for which I merely have a passion for, but have no idea if there is any money to be made with (pirates, privateers, reenacting clothing, costumes & accessories).

The fact that I still have not written any content really disturbs me.

I am so not a creative writer (and that is what this feels like to me, what I need to be - or become).

Also, I am not comfortable taking chances and waiting for things to maybe happen or not.

For the majority of my work life, I have been conditioned to always wonder "what if" and then do what is necessary to avoid that "what if". Never take chances, always play it safe, no room for "maybe" and "try this and see if it works" or "you could look into this and see if it fits your goal".

In my line of work, if we took such chances and went with "let's see if it works", people would die.

And I am not even trying to be dramatic here.

What I am trying to say is, I don't have much to gamble on here, and I am not a very patient person.

And as of now, I do see that there are ways to make a living off of this, but I don't understand how.

All I hear so far is that it is all about "ranking".

I fail to see the connection between making a page rank top in google searches, and people actually visiting said page and then making a purchase or whatever, and thus me earning a commission.

I cannot count the number of times I have conducted a search on google, but never clicked on any of the top 10 results for found pages.

I am still hoping to unfrizzle that mystery one day.

While it is good to read messages from fellow "noobs", who share my puzzlement, that does not help in solving the riddle.

And then there are those people who surely mean well, but don't actually say anything when they keep repeating the same empty line of the likes of "you have to write in such a way that people will want to read your post"... o.O

Uhummm yeah weeell that is kinda the point - just how exactly do I do that?

It feels a bit like I am trying to learn Japanese, and the helpful advise I get is to pick up this Japanese book and learn...

Then there are also a selected few to take the more direct in the face approach and come at me with "Well, you came here to learn, didn't you? So learn." ...

Well, to be honest no I didn't.

I came here to be taken by the hand and walked through the process of creating an online business, creating traffic and thus making a living off of ads and/or commissions.

In a way that I am shown how to do things, in very clear step-by-step instructions.

This is how I am used to learning: someone shows me, I repeat and then drill it until I can do it in my sleep - like taking a rifle apart behind my back, so to speak.

I did not come here to read through zillions of articles and to watch hours of videos. I was ready to do all that later, along the way, to then improve and get even better, but I expected a far more clear do-this-that-way-at-this-time-there boot camp kind of training.

The reason that I am going through this, is that for the time being I receive financial help from a government program for self employment.

If it weren't for that and the paycheck my wife brings home, I could not do this.

Meaning, I have a time frame of approximately 6 months to create something and turn it profitable.

Not please don't anybody get me wrong - I am not bashing this site or the training.

There is a lot of material and a lot to learn and I am thankful for that.

I was just hoping to be shown step by step how to create one online income stream, and then I could copy that and adapt it to one or more other topics aka "niches" and then only come back for additional advise or fine tuning.

I may well have had incorrect expectations, I do realize that.

And having to wait for something to maybe happen 6 months from today may well be the toughest thing for me in this.

For 25+ years, I never did anything long term.

I was always the worst case scenario clean-up guy.

I trained and maintained, and then when sometime somewhere la merde hit le ventilateur, my team would get called and we'd drop in, get the job done and get out.

This is hard, more than a mere job change.

I have to recondition my way of thinking, have to forget some intuitive MOs and change pretty much my way of approaching life.

People keep telling me on here, that I should write about personal things on here to show that I am a real person.

Well, it doesn't get far more personal than this for me here.

And now I shall get back to staring at an empty notepad page and trying to come up with something witty to post on my pages, not knowing why I am doing what I am doing, and not knowing really what I did at the end of the day...

Not sure if any of this makes sense for anyone outside of my head, but it is how I feel.

Very interesting stuff. Thanks for reading something that will leave me thinking and remembering. Much appreciated.

You just wrote a very natural and interesting post. Take one of your niches and pick a topic and start writing what you want to say about that topic. If you need to research some, do so and then write what you learned in your own words. Shirley
Then post a link here and we will look it over for you.

Hi Eric, I have a tip for writing content, Search at least 12 blogs about your subject on google, take from every blog 6 points, write out of the 72 points you get fro it, in your own words a blog from 400 words, success

Eric,
Loes advice is a BEST starting point for you at this time when it comes to getting ideas about what and how to write your content in your websites.

Now.... You State:

1.) "There is a lot of material and a lot to learn (inside WA) and I am thankful for that..." .....follow..... by...... 2.) "(but)I was just hoping to be shown step by step how to create one online income.."

Exactly, Eric, the first "quote" answers your 'hoping", the second quote, as you confirm that there is a 'lot if material and a lot to learn' in the first quote.

The following is NOT a motivational pep-rally, but a TRUTH.

Eric, if you request, I can point you to proven resources that you can utilize immediately to start changing your point of view, your perspective of life, your predominant mental attitude, BUT ONLY YOU can do what needs to be done to help YOURSELF. If you are thirsty, NO one can force you to drink the cold delicious water.

if you want to change the Without, you must change the Within FIRST.

PS: I may not be able to answer you right away, but I will within the next 33 hours if I need to.

You said you can't write, you just did, a very eloquent piece of writing. There are articles here that take you step by step through writing quality content but you said you don't want to watch videos so here's how I do it.
I'm not a natural writer, I research a subject and bullet point interesting points then fill in the gaps taking bits and pieces from the research but in my own words. It takes time and patience, something that only you can give. Breaking out of any conditioning is hard but the only way to do it is, to do it.
From my understanding the steps to becoming succesful online are:
Build your website, add content, get your pages indexed in Google, the people start to trust what you have to say and come back or recommend, traffic gets busier, you add affiliate links and start to make sales.
There are many tools to help with the "patience" "reconditioning aspect." Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr Joe Dispenza is one that I like but there are thousands. Takes work but if you don't do it it won't get done.
Thanks for sharing a very personal journey Eric, hope this helps. :)
