A Question Regarding Plugins.

Hello everyone,

Wishing you a splendid beginning to your week!

I have a question regarding plugins. I know we are advised to keep the number of plugins at or below 5. I am currently running 5 plugins, so I've reached the recommended limit.

The issue is that by keeping the number of plugins below 5 there is a lot of functionality that my site is missing. I don't have social buttons, for example. I also don't have a signup form.

So my question is: Is it necessary to keep the number of active plgins below 5 if we miss out on so much essential functionality?

If no, then how can we run more than 5 plugins while ensuring a site performs optimally? What are the absouletly essential plugins?

Thanks in advance,

Erick

You might want to look up Marion Black using the magnifying glass at the top! She is an expert at usage of plug-ins, and she has WAY MORE than five on her website and she has a very high upload speed!

Hello Jeff! Thanks for the reply!

I have read some of Marion Black's content in the past. I'll check her stuff out.

You're welcome, Erick! I hope you find what you need--she has a LOT of trainings as well!

You can have as many plugins as you want. The issue is whether or not the plugin is coded correctly and performs fast. Some people have more than 30 plugins. As long as the plugin does not mess with your site speed it is ok.

Hi Irishredrose, I'll keep that in mind. I was assuming all plugins were equal, but I just realized that's far from being the case.

A website can have over 50 plugins and still work absolutely fine, while another with fewer than 10 plugins can continue to run into problems regularly because they’re low-quality plugins.
Only install a plugin if it adds value to your website and not because it is “nice to have”.
Remember, every plugin that you have installed and active will incrementally affect your website performance.

Thanks for the tip lucbizz. I'll make sure to remember that about the quality of the plugins. I will only use those which add value!

It is important to have the functionality you need so it will be necessary to add some plugins.

Every theme, websites goals and usage of code differ so it is hard to provide a list of plugins.

Can you use your siterubix.com website to test this.
That's what we do. We ask Site Support to COPY our .com website to a .siterubix.com site and experiment.

You can also test your site speed and see what the impact is as you start adding what you think is most important and go from there.

Hi jghwebbrand! That sounds like a great idea! The best way to learn is to experiment, after all.

I'll ask site support to do that for me.

Thanks for your reply!

Great

You can always delete the ones you're not currently using and when you need them again, you can re-activate them for that purpose.

Hello Joe, thanks for your response!
