Dealing with Rejection
At this point in establishing my online businesses, I still need outside income. I have been substitute teaching to earn money. I don't really like it. It's not the kids, or the teaching, it's the fact there are too many kids in one room to get anything significant accomplished with the current learning format.
I went searching for another part time job, which would challenge me and let me use my skills and talents. I found one! It even allowed me to get a huge discount off of going back to school. I was ecstatic!
I prepared everyday up to the interview, learned all of the functions and names in the organization, and did a really good job in the interview.
Just not 1st choice good.
I received an email yesterday explaining how difficult of a choice they had, and how the other person was chosen by a "hair."
I think I would have rather just not heard back, then knowing I was so close, but still rejected. It hurt. I was sad.
I had worked hard, prepared, had been positive, and did everything right.
It wasn't good enough.
Sometimes, in life, we just fail. Even after all of our hard work and positive energy. It is in this time our true character is revealed. Do we get angry and negative and just give up on the idea all together? Or do we acknowledge our disappointment, cry, and then move on by creating a new plan to reach our vision?
It's not easy, but I'm in the process of creating a new plan. I still have my vision. I still have my goals, I just need to figure out the plan to accomplish them from scratch. I'm sure I'll think of something.
