My thought on word count has always been, less is more, but as you said in your vlog, it totally depends on the topic. I agree!

The TL;DR is real for me when reading posts or blogs. Maybe it's from years of listening to my mom's stories that branch off in 10 different directions before she makes her point, that is if she remembers her point. Haha, sorry mom!

Anyway, thanks for the video!

The key to a TL;DR is the elaboration is right there in the article if you want to dive deeper. If all you have is a TL;DR it won’t go anywhere.

Thoroughness is key. 👍🏼

OK - thats a way more interesting take on word count... and your intent matching understanding.
It does make me comfortable on the front of I tackle some technical topics and they take more structure & information.... --> lenght; But I Am also trying to mix on shorter 'info' styles blogs.

Thoroughness is the key. If you’re covering the topic in it’s entirety then you’re doing your job 👍🏼

Hello,
So with the help of ChatGPT, it has basically told me the same message you did. The value of the content is important, solving problems is the most important. Trying to meet a word count can just make it too wordy.
I've noticed my blogs have reduced word count significantly in some articles. I am not too sure if I have even tried long form posts ranking on google ..... Any chance you can discuss this in a Vlog?
Great information as always Thanks.

It’s all about the topic. If your articles with reduced word count are on very cut and dry topics with singular answers, like what time is sunset?, then that makes sense. But if they’re covering broader topics then there’s probably plenty of room to grow so you can answer all the questions your audience is looking for answers to.

Often I see members thinking “word count doesn’t matter” so they create a 300 word article on how affiliate marketing works and think it’s thorough when it’s not.

Just because word count doesn’t matter as far as ranking this doesn’t suddenly mean we can stop being thorough. All it means is that Google isn’t looking at specific word counts when it comes to ranking, but it is looking to see the topic covered fully 👍🏼

I do think this would be a good follow up topic to cover. I’ll make a vlog on it.

So true Eric. I’ve seen many posts under 500 words still ranking high, it really comes down to matching the search intent.
I usually write 1000+ word posts. I totally agree that our focus should always be on helping readers with their questions or pain points. That’s what really matters.
