I plan to set up my Instagram later this week. I have had an Instagram account for a couple years now for my personal posts. I would like to set up a brand new one for WA which is separate from my personal account. I know Instagram offers to just add another account rather than setting up a new one for some reason. Have read posts in the past from other WA members that they were banned due to some legal terms/transparency of some sort. Got two questions for you: 1.) Did you set this up as a brand new account (not tied to your other Instagram account (if any?). 2.) Do I need to set it up as Professional Acct?

1

Adding an account is the same thing as creating a new one, so thereโ€™s no issue there. It just allows you to keep your login details and switch between profiles with a tap ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Setting up as a business account allows you to have extra analytics available itโ€™s a definite plus ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Thanks Eric! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Eric,

Shall we create a personal or a business account? What's your advice?

As links can be edited only on mobile, I have to install the app as well.

When about links page, I'll start with solo free just to test the waters.

Thanks for lesson no.2.

Best,
Maria

Go with business account so you can check all your analytics later as you create more and more content ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ And yes, you'll definitely want to get on instagram via mobile since that's how 99.9% of your audience is seeing your content.

1

Thanks, Eric. I will create a business account.

1

Hey Eric,

Thank you for sharing your journey. Your profile looks well-optimized. Can I assume it is a business account? I wish they would increase the reel and story videos to three minutes, like on YouTube. It is a hassle to redo shorter video versions of the same YouTube shorts.

Two questions:
1) Why have you only decided now to create an Instagram account?
2) Why are you following more people than those following you?

Iโ€™m following more people than those following me. My strategy is to follow the followers of pages that might like mine too, then they follow back. Afterwards, I clean up and delete the ones that didnโ€™t follow me. Went from 347 to 1943.

Hey Steve,

That is a good point, but I don't do it so early on with new profiles. I would first push out quite some content and build a reputation in a few weeks, then the bigger guys would know what I'm about and gladly follow me back.

I also believe in cross-promoting a few like-minded profiles and sometimes mention them in videos, especially reels and shorts.

Originally, it was just my band page to save all the pics from the gigs. But then I switched it to my blog name to bridge them together.

1

You're not watching the videos?

I've answered the first question in every single episode. The second question is good though, I'll answer that in today's video. Thanks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

1

Oh, but I do watch your videos as it contains most of the information on your blog article... Maybe I just missed that bit.

I'm stuck at 1845.... I'm gonna do what you did and see if that will boost my numbers

2

I hope I can get the creative juices flowing ๐Ÿ’ฏ

1

I went crazy with it to get the most followers. When I got to following 7500 I was cut off and had to start unfollowing the ones that didnโ€™t follow back, so I can add others.

Thereโ€™s ways to buy followers but I really donโ€™t want to do that.

I'll cover more about following and the steps you can take to get followers in an upcoming episode. Never buy followers. It'll ruin your work.

2

I would never do that, plus Iโ€™m too cheap. lol

2

I'm glad I came across your videos on Instagram... It's my favorite social media platform

1

Yeah Iโ€™m not a TikTok person, so itโ€™s fun building on a platform Iโ€™m familiar with.

Great info, Eric.

I am contemplating whether to have a Linktree style setup or whether to drive traffic directly to either the homepage of the website or to the individual blogposts that the content is repurposed from.

At the end of the day, it is all about getting eyeballs onto our content and specifically to the piece of content that is the target of the Instagram post.

Looking forward to the next.

Cheers.

Thatโ€™s the point of the solo.to page ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ฏ With this setup not only do I get all my platforms in front of my followers but when I post about an article they can go directly to my latest posts, they can see any content I want featured, I can get attention to seasonal deals (like Black Friday), I can direct them to my YouTube, my coaching. Iโ€™m really happy with it. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

1

It sounds really promising. Thank you for putting this together. I will certainly be following along.

You're very welcome man! Keep sending any questions you have along the way. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Well thank you ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ This is more to get peopleโ€™s creative juices flowing with what you can do on Instagram, and with me starting this from scratch itโ€™s a fun project for me as well ๐Ÿ’ฏ
