What Kind of Messaging Are You Creating for Your Referrals?

I'm a big believer in "control what you can control".

In the world of affiliate marketing, you can lead your audience to water, but you can't make them drink. It's not our job to push any product or service on our audience. Instead, we just show them the answer they've been looking for and it's up to them to see that value we've laid out on the table.

So, right from the start, that's the value we want to show to our referrals. (And by the way this approach applies no matter what niche you're in, but for this conversation, I'm talking to those in the MMO niche who are promoting WA and looking to get referrals who convert. )

In the very beginning, it's natural to sell, sell, sell without even knowing you're doing it. My very first reviews were so over the top it was embarrassing to read them months later.

You have to think about what actually works in real life. Let's say you have a camera and a friend sees it and says "hey man, how are you liking that? I saw it online and I was thinking about getting it." You don't jump into a sales pitch. You just tell them honestly what you like, what you don't, and how you've enjoyed it so far. That alone is usually enough to get them to go buy it for themselves and you never even think twice about it.

That's the approach you need to have with any promotion of a product or service, especially WA. You're not here to tell people about how much money you've made or how many people have gotten rich off WA. You're here to tell about how much you're learning, how the training is set up, and how the tools and resources built right into the platform are helping you build your new online business.

And when people realize WA is free to try, that's the easiest sell ever. "Try it out free first to see if it's a good fit.". Done and done.

And once they're inside WA, don't suddenly change your whole vibe and start bombarding them with "upgrade, upgrade, upgrade!", "You're so close! You just need to take that next step!", etc.

Let them breathe.

Allow them to see the value inside WA. Kyle and Carson and the WA messaging already do a great job on the conversion end of things.

Your job with your messaging is to let them feel grounded, supported, and valued.
You're there for any questions they have.
You want to shift their vision to future progress rather than struggles they've had in the past.
And if they do nothing, if they don't reply to a single message, if they show all the excitement in the world on day 1 only to never be heard of again, you don't chase them down with message after message or beat yourself up or get angry at the other members here for not supporting them.

You control what you can control.

That same messaging that didn't get any responses from one referral will convert another one 5 minutes after arriving when the focus isn't on selling, but on support.

You're not trying to impress them. You just want to keep that pacing that you established with the piece of content that got them here so they keep moving forward and don't start to second guess.

It's easy to dive right into "this is how this works, here’s what you should do, here’s why you should upgrade.” But your referrals aren't going cold because of lack of information. Just focus on making your referral feel like they're not just another signup. You get where they are, and you're walking with them.

When people arrive here, they usually have a natural fear of failure, or they're worried that they’re not “doing it right”. A simple “you’re doing better than you think” can make all the difference in the world. It can help them to relax and stay engaged.

Pressure will always backfire. A little pat on the back keeps them moving.

I feel like the biggest mistake a support coach can make is to tell a referral what to do.

Instead, get them in a conversation with you. You want them replying. Kyle has said it countless times that a referral who is replying is a referral who's going to convert. Ask questions that keep them moving forward.

“What part of this are you most excited about?”
“What feels confusing right now?”
“What’s your next goal?”

Each answer is establishing rapport, and even if they suddenly stop all communication, even if you never heard from them again, you know you've done your job with your support.

Control what you can control.
Don't hyper focus on any single referral.
Remember, you won't be able to do that anyway when you're getting 50 referrals a day.
Use the messaging tools here in a way that you're able to connect with each and every referral without ever pressuring them.

Be honest.
Be yourself.
Enjoy the process of connecting people from all over the world with the training they've been searching for 💯
