Overcoming writer's block
If you are staring at that blank page and wondering what to write, here are a couple of ideas I use that may help to get you going:
- I go through my previous posts. Sometimes I have written something I have forgotten about that leads perfectly into a new post.
- I may have an idea but no real clue of how to make it into a full post. I go to Google and type in a sentence related to the idea. I read the top few posts and soon I have an outline for an article - no copying though, just getting ideas.
- I go to Buzzsumo and type in a keyword. If I type in 'empty nest', for example, I find an article about a mother who took drastic measures when her college son didn't call her back. This immediately sparks some ideas for a post.
- Sometimes, I don't focus on posts with affiliate links at all. I just create a post where I am open about my struggles, failures and successes.
- Recently, I have considered doing a post which is a round-up of the best posts I have found relating to my niche on other websites. I thought this would be a good way to reach out and make other people in the same niche aware of my existence.
What ideas do you have for getting rid of writer's block?

Other than the 30 minute walk I don't have any, but thank you for these.
I happen to believe that the more creative you are the less likely you are to have writer's block.
Take a look at your book shelves for ideas, magazines, Newspapers.
I use your ideas also although Buzzsumo is a new one.
Then there is a good fallback. The 20 or 30 minute walk. Works well.
I have Google alerts sent to my email and sometimes they have great articles to write about.
I also use my older posts and elaborate on them to write new posts.
Thanks for sharing

Yes, I do the same. I sometimes read my other pages, find catch words that I could write sometime inspiring and then just link them. It also helps to read other websites and posts as well to jolt that brain a little.
Yes, reading what others have written can give your brain a good jolt and really put it in gear.
That's a great way of building credibility in our chosen niche erica.. For a website which doesn't have much content, it is very early to put any affiliate link.. Great sharing Erica..
Thanks for posting this, they are great ideas. I've never heard of Buzzsumo. I'll have to check it out.
Hey there
Thank you so much for this.
I usually look for ideas of what is trending currently.
That helps me a bit.

That's a great idea Michelle. I just learned about Google Trends. Is that what you're talking about?
