Facebook Unpublished My Page

Hi everyone,

So, like many others I have been blessed with the chance to be part of the Super Affiliate Challenge this year.

I guess I am fairly lucky that like others, I had already started Bootcamp and I have a site that is 3 months old, with a lot of posts within it.

I had a slight concern that the site name - startablogmakemoneydotcom sounded a bit spammy and would maybe turn people away, or sound like 'you can make money quickly' which certainly isn't my intent.

If you actually look at my site, it has been set up to help 'newbies' as much as possible with Niche Finding, Keywords, SEO etc. and I'm now at the point where I am going to start adding a lot of reviews as well.

Today I logged into Facebook only to find that my page 'Start a Blog Make Money' has been unpublished for 'including content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive'.

Now I understand that this is probably a general statement for certain worded content, but this came as a bit of a shock to me.

It's more annoying because some of the blatant Scam posts within Facebook groups seems to be left untouched.

I guess it's more upsetting when you are genuinely trying to put content together to help people that want to earn money online the right way, and you are accused of being unethical - or at least that's how I feel.

So my question to the community is this:

Do you think I should change the name of my site to avoid future issues?

Facebook was going to be my initial Social Media platform so that feels a little screwed up right now.

Any thoughts or feedback would be really appreciated right now, as I want to hit the ground running when the Super Affiliate training kicks off.

Thanks in advance for any feedback given.

All the best,

Mark

I just read that Facebook may be changing the rules again! It is difficult to know what to do in your situation. Maybe starting a new page with a different name would be wise. I recently had one of my Instagram "sites" removed because it was reported as being against their rules! Since I hadn't even posted anything, I'm not exactly sure why that was, but... I'll try again anyway.

Best wishes,
Karin

Thanks Karin,
I think I will follow @SnazzyIT advice and drop Facebook for the time being.
The next 12 months or so are going to be busy enough without worrying about Facebook I think - as you say, they keep changing the rules.
Will stick with my site and Pinterest for now.

Thanks for the feedback.
Mark.

Sounds like a plan, Mark! Best wishes!

Karin

Hi Emmo,
I suggest changing the site name, if you want FB, however, FB keeps changing the rules. From my own experience they are not worth the time or money. They charged me $120 to promote some of my posts for 14 days to over 6k people. To date I only got one interested click out of it. I refuse to use them anymore. FB told me I still owe them 60 USD and won't let me post until it's paid. I find Pinterest, Instagram and linkhed more responsive, and they are organic traffic.

Hi Snazzy,
I agree with reference to Facebook, they do change the rules a lot. I do have a Pinterest business page so maybe I will concentrate on that instead.
I did use Facebook Ads when I had a Shopify store and boy were they expensive as you say.

Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated.
Mark.

You are welcome 😁

What has most likely happened is that people that promote the scams that you have reviewed have reported your posts. Is there an option to contest the abuse posts? I know that some of my posts on Facebook have been highlighted as possibly being against their terms and there has been an option for review which I have used and then in most cases my posts have been reviewed and approved. I'm not sure if it is the same for a page though.

I am sure it is very upsetting but I found when I was reviewing and exposing scams there were a lot of people getting upset. I lost my drive for exposing scams though. I much prefer to concentrate on my parenting website and in sharing tips on how to make money online on my MMO rather focusing on scams!

Hi Lynne, thanks for the feedback.
I've actually only done one review outside of WA for a course I purchased last year and although I didn't recommend them for people starting out, I didn't slate them either.
Most of my posts on Facebook have actually been posts to help people rather than promoting stuff at the moment. I was really keen to get good helpful content on the site first.
I have responded to Facebook and am waiting for a response - I'm not holding my breath on the outcome though.
I am fairly sure that my site name raises the alarm bells but who knows.
Really appreciate your feedback, thank you.

It could just be something simple. Like I said I have had loads of posts that have been flagged by Facebook - so something in my post got them interested but when I requested a review they allowed those posts every single time.... so I hope this is the case for you and that everything gets reinstated for you. It really is sad when this sort of thing happens. It just highlights for me once again how important it is to gain organic traffic to your website and to start building your own list since this is something that you own and it is not reliant on another website such as social networks where you have to stick to their terms and you can get your page and following just shut down and there may be nothing you can do about it.

Completely agree with you Lynne. I'm so glad I concentrated on organic traffic right from the word go.
Thanks again for all your support.

It's a pleasure :) Good luck!

Well, I received my response from Facebook:

Hi Mark,

Thanks for contacting us. We've reviewed your Page and confirmed that it still violates the Facebook Page Policies. As a result, your Page remains unpublished.
Thanks,

Oh dear, maybe ask them to be specific about the rule that has been violated so you can fix it? I know Facebook gets really sticky sometimes about MMO niche. Maybe you can change the way you phrase your description for example to be online marketing instead of MMO?

Yes I checked. Basically, they are saying my page title indicates spam and that it suggests that people will make money if they join my group. It's quite laughable really but nothing I can do other than change everything. I do sort of get what they are saying.
I think I might in the future but at the moment I think I will concentrate on the super affiliate course.
Many thanks.

Yeah they don't like anything to do with making money LOL
