Thanks, you're probably right. After all, I do have 18 plugins... Google pagespeed and GTmetrix isn't an issue though!

If you've got the latest version of WordPress then it's probably a plugin which is causing the issue. This is how I dealt with a plugin problem

Should I link to:

- "Media File" ?

- "Attachment Page" ?

- "Custom URL" ?

Phew, I've had a lot of questions recently. Thanks for your

It depends what you want.

Definitely avoid Attachment page. For search engines this is something without text and not good for ranking.

Media file you can use for example if you have some plugin which enlarges the picture when you click on it.

Custom url is when you have some external (e.g., affiliate) or internal link.

What are you thoughts on using an RSS Feed instead of an autoresponder in the beginning. I know that MailChimp is free (but not the autoresponder).

So with

The point of subscribing to an RSS feed is to get the information into the inbox without the need to visit the website. Not sure if people would stay subscribed to a feed if they were getting notifications of new posts. ~Jude

Hm, yea I understand that. I guess this would just be a way to try to build a list. Do you have any other suggestions for overcoming the things I mentioned in the list above?

Thanks

I subscribe to both RSS feeds and optin-emails and they serve two separate and distinct purposes for me. .

With RSS feeds, my focus is on following the information - news, current affairs, etc. It saves me visiting the website and I can keep up to date in topics of general interest.

With optin email subscriptions, my focus is primarily on following the individual, in my case that would be internet marketers I respect who keep me informed of topics in my niche, their personal experience with products I might be interested in and don't give me hype or over-promote things.

The only real issue I see is that unless you run the RSS feed service via an app on your own hosting, you don't own the data - the feed service owns it. So if, like Google Reader, they decide to close shop, the subscription would be closed too and you may need to start over again. ~Jude

Thank you for your informative comment Jude, I really appreciate it! This was very helpful.

I have seen this feature, but not really tested it. I think it's a great idea IF the email looks good. I would set it up and test it out with your own email account and see how it looks. If you feel it's presentable, go for it!

Great! I've used it for another site and it does look quality. Thanks Pj

It's either via ftp (which is the neatest and best ) or with a plugin. Just make sure you do do it otherwise you'll have errors

Amazon Associates doesn't permit the use of affiliate links in emails, RSS Feeds, e-books, or anything else.

They only permit their links to be

Link all of your emails and rss feeds to your sell pages or product pages on your own website?

Thanks Shawn,

Yes, but the problem with that would be that if I have my feed sending each new published post, the posts that have affiliate links (on my website) would be sent as well.

So for example, if I review a product and publish the post, it will automatically get sent via RSS or to anyone signed up to receive new published posts.

Also, if subscribers are receiving each new published post on the website, that means that affiliate links in those posts would also be sent (with the post).

Bryan-

I understand but I do not think the website applies to posting affiliate links.
