GDPR Sample Notification

If you live in the EU, you will probably be seeing a lot of these types of emails in the run up to the GDPR effective date of May 25. They can be a pain in the butt if you end up getting a lot of them.

The good news is that every time you receive one, you can be assured that the company in question is addressing the GDPR requirements and taking action. They are telling you how they are protecting your personal data. It's up to you to read any updates to their privacy page and terms and conditions.

Some of us will need to do something similar. Since I'm no lawyer, I'll wait to see what Kyle rolls out over the next few weeks based on his comment here. I'm sure he will have some detailed info about what this means for us.

This is quite a timely new regulation considering the news recently about all the data stolen from Facebook. The funny thing is that this regulation was approved in April 2016. It's only becoming effective next month. The EU has given people two years to start implementing the new compliance regulations.

I don't know about you, but I never really cared much about this before until the whole Facebook thing. So many of us use it for personal and business reasons. Not to mention many other sites that hold our personal data. I assumed that my information was being handled properly. I'm glad we've had some guidelines on this side of the pond that have been beefed up. I don't know what type of regulations exist in the U.S. Does anyone know?

I know it's not glamorous but it's important.

I am very glad that Europe is taking their responsibility, and want to keep companies accountable for their way of handling private information.

Me too! Thanks, Loes! Alanna

We use a double opt in and provide an Unsubscribe option to emails. Comment boxes on blogs ask for emails. I wonder if that will go away.
Don't really know!
Maybe auto responders will periodically send out something like you showed here.

Double opt-ins are the way to go. That way the person subscribing consents when they confirm their subscription to your email list. Email marketing companies will get on board. Alanna
