Giving up 9 Tenths of the Way

I was told once that most people give up at the very last leg of their goal. That when it is in reach, they decide they have had enough and quit.

This was me...

I also had this understanding that if only I could be like them...The ones that do really well. Oh I was going to do well. But not really well. I just didn't class myself in that group. Let's be realistic now.

But I was shooting myself in the foot.

Let's rewind a little and I will tell you an interesting story about my last few months, during which I was absent from WA.

I was doing so well here, everyday doing something productive. I was happy with my site, happy with my ranking (I think I got into the top 200), and I was happy with myself.

I was determined to keep going. But the article writing was a bit of a struggle. And then I started working more. And then I was more tired and decided I had no energy to write or work so I watched entertainment instead. And the entertainment was addicting. And then I would sleep, and begin the cycle anew every day.

I even slowed down in my IT course, so slow that I stopped completely for awhile.

I had excuses. My girlfriend just had her first baby. Yes, I am a proud parent and yes, my little girl is definitely the cutest in the world. :p

But even though life was full, and life was new and changing, I knew deep down I had to be productive or die. To me, being not productive and not doing anything that is useful in life is just saying I want to be a dependent slave earning money for others the rest of my life. It's not how I want to live, and more importantly, it is not how I want to raise my daughter.

But I struggle so BAD. SO BAD. I am a procrastinator, and I fart around, and I DON'T KNOW WHY!! I sit down and write lists, and set demands and punishments, and goals and accountability calls and you name it - but I still struggle. And I am sure I am not alone.

But I have hope. I know that even though getting things done is my greatest weakness, I can still succeed.

I think the biggest most important and most simple rule to remember is this - STICK TO ONE THING AND MAKE IT WORK.

I give up too early, on too many things. Not because I quit for cowardly reasons. Not because I am even necessarily tired. A lot of the time I get distracted by new ideas. I have started a new venture (namely, trying to build my own company), which I will continue.

But to give up on WA is so silly. And I realised just the other day, when it finally sunk in. The email about Dom and his success arrived in my inbox and I was reminded. Hey... his key was sticking to it. That's pretty much it, as well as following the program. If he can do it, then I can do it too.

I can be like them. You see, THEM is a made up idea we create and we scare ourselves away from success. We can be them, because they are just like us. Normal people who work hard and overcame obstacles. Let's be like them. :)

Another key moment of confidence in WA has been my recent studying and reading of entrepenurial material. So many ideas, foundational truths, practical steps and business ideas mentioned in that material is embodied and explored here at WA and the progress of my WA website.

So, after months of absence and doubt, I am again renewed to come back and continue my progress here. WA honestly has a lot of value and potential the longer and harder you work at it.

Hope to be a lively part of the community again. :)

All the best to you and because you read to the end, here is a baby photo of my angel.

Regards,

Elsie

Hello, Elsie!

It's so wonderful to see and feel from your words in this post that "throwing in the towel" didn't work for you becasue deep down in side you do believe in yourself and in the possibilities and opportunities that are abundantly available by having your own website and working within the WA community.

Life is full of starts and stops, sometimes, life happens too. Even when we get in the way of ourselves we can still get around that proverbial blockade. I see that you have with your post done just that.

So, please allow me to be one of many to welcome you back and to be in your cheering section. We can do this...one step, one action, one day at a time!

Linda

P.S. LOVE the pic of your baby...they are little angels to us!

Thankyou Linda, love your words of encouragement. Yes, deep down we all know we can do it. :)

Thankyou for the welcome back. See you around!
Elsie
