I have seen the tutorial on how to do it but Kyle mentioned that it shouldn't be done once you've been indexed. Is this a definite or can I still do it/ what are the negatives?
I suggest see this tutorial by Nathaniell: Can You Change A PostPage Title After It's Published? and this discussion Is it wise to change the url of blog post?
You can but it can just causes issues. Your permalink will be the old one and won't reflect the new name, and this isn't optimal. And some other issues i can't think of right now.
To save all the trouble, just Copy and paste the content into a new page ( Ctrl+A to highlight all of it, Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+V to paste on windows), and adjust the name and All in one SEO stuff there.
Thats what i do and its worked fine.
That's a good idea, saves a lot of trouble :) So you can easily delete pages once your site is indexed and it won't cause any issues?
You will lose any current rankings of the page in Search engines, but apart form that theres no trouble in deleting posts or pages.
