Let's cut the bull shall we?
I want to talk about something that really hits home for me.
I've been doing an experiment of sorts. Anyone who approaches me with a "business opportunity" I say I'd like to hear more, and I allow them to pitch their cause to me.
Why do I do this? It's for the benefit of both parties. Most MLM (Multi Level Marketing) companies need you to start reaching out to people online or in the supermarket and get your business opportunity out there.
Makes sense right? Most good representatives and teachers in said companies encourage you that even if a person is not interested in the end, at least you got some good practice and possibly some good feedback for the future. What do I get out of listening to these pitches? I learn what not to say to people in a legitimate business venture.
You want to know the #1 thing that bothers me in a pitch? When the person is dishonest. Weather it's a slight of words to make something sound better, or an outright lie. For example: I had one person explain they had a business opportunity. As to not waste their time, I did let them know right away that if this was a MLM business venture, that I am not interested in that type of opportunity at this time. The woman assured me that it was not a MLM company at all. She scheduled an online meeting time with me at an online web location. The link she sent me, looked very suspiciously like a MLM opportunity. I searched the simple words I found in the URL itself on Google and what do you know? It WAS an MLM company. As I officially put my head in my hands and clicked away from the link(Not during the pitch, that's rude) I couldn't help but shake my head and ask myself this question:
If we have to present ourselves in a way that we have to bend the truth a little here or there or even outright lie, what kind of buisness are we truely building?
I love Wealthy Affiliate. I love that we are given the unique tools and information to keep us from needing to Rob Peter to pay Paul so to speak. We can openly invite individuals to come check out this business venture and not try to "sell" them on anything to get them here.

Being part of an MLM experience before I ever got involved online, I was not only being pushed to do things that felt unnatural and dishonest, I ended up having to hustle my entire family in order to get my business off the ground.
That is NOT creating a business and that is why I have never been a proponent of MLM. It is a tireless hustle that often times loses you more friends than you make and at the end of the day, you are usually promoting something that is vastly overpriced in order to support the commission architecture of the program itself.
Exactly! Because they want you to build your "business" by sniper hunting ahem....pitching to all your friends till the cows come home!! I wish I had known about Wealthy Affiliate a long time ago. I got involved in a couple MLM when I was very young and I quick learned that they are full of it and it's been my goal to help people avoid that nonsense to this day!
This is why I join here myself, I was not sold. Great post Elizabeth, thank you for sharing.

Yes it is. For once you can share something to the world and feel good about it, Kyle and Carson are awesome. Could you imagine where we going to be heading with this?
