UK to introduce online laws
UK culture secretary has promised to introduce normality into online tech world, and make UK the safest place in the world. He wants the tech giants to verify users' age, before allowing access, and failure to do so will result in heavy penalty, he said.
He set up a committee to work up on a code of practice to tackle bullying, intimidating, humiliating content, and a regular internet safety transparency. The law could take effect as early as Autumn
Four in ten people experience abuse, and six in ten are able to view inappropriate contents, so he aims to end the era of technology self regulation.
Do you think he will succeed at this? I along with others are eargerly waiting.
All the best always.
Lanu.

You won't know if anything will work unless you try it. Somebody once said that a hundred shots not taken won't go in.
Anything is possible as well as impossible!
The internet is a Worldwide Universe into its own
Entity. The public today, disregard laws, just like the gun
Laws here. Regardless to how they try to retify it, It's will not prevail. People are still getting guns to use, and killing up
Innocent children. Just my thought.
Thanks Lanu for sharing this update!

Well, the fight of the giants, only the 'grass' will suffer, but the govt has the wherewithal to impose sanction. Let's see how they will succeed.
The idea is a good one but I don't see how it can be accomplished. Anyone can say anything on the internet. How will it be verified.?

These days, it can be my dear. But just as Kyle said, most are bots anyway. How do you prove that?
Although a commendable and ambitious goal, this is going to represent all sorts of issues and is going to be tough to implement as much of the internet operates out of anonymity and we have to acknowledge that over 50% of all traffic is web/automated bots (many of which play an important role).
Will be interesting to see how this pans out, there certainly does need to be some more regulation in this area, but unfortunately I don't think there is going to be a one-size fits all across all platforms.
I hope he succeeds in his mission, but it will be a huge challenge to take on! Thanks for sharing, Lanu:)
Blessings:)

Hadn't heard about this, but it sounds like a good idea. I sort of hate to see government get involved in things, but some regulations are necessary to protect kids from getting ahold of all the info they have access to now would probably be a good idea. Carol
Everyone needs protection from the social media Carol, not only the kids. What about adult abuse and trolling, they all add up. Self regulation is for only the disciplined and the matured my dear.
Yes, I agree. Carol
