Where Is Your Horizon?
The Valley
In order to appreciate the view from the top there has to be valleys. We had friends visiting from Nanaimo, Canada last weekend. They were here to celebrate the Oscars. I took them on a drive over the Hollywood Hills on the picturesque Mullholland Drive. The views are spectacular! I took a panorama shot with my iPhone looking north. My home is on the opposite hills.
As we drove along we eventually came to another spot that overlooked Universal Studios. We could see Hogwarts Castle rising upwards. Soon we transitioned to the other side of the hills and we had a spectacular view of the skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles. On the near horizon was the iconic HOLLYWOOD sign. It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day that enhanced our experience.
Once we reached the bottom of the valley our perspective changed dramatically. The views of the streets were not beautiful at all. Traffic abounded. Instead of having a pleasurable ride, we had to negotiate traffic lights and hordes of cars.
That's Life!
Life is like that. We cannot appreciate the view from the top without experiencing the humdrum lowlands. We journey through life with our emotions rising to euphoria from a depressed state. Be thankful for our depressed state because that is how we can contrast times of happiness and joy.
We had a choice about finding our peaks. We can make the effort to climb the mountain or stay in the valley. We have it in our power to create those special moments in our lives. At Wealthy Affiliate the opportunity is there for the taking. The education and tools at our disposal will only work if we make the effort to put them into action through the tasks that we're given in each lesson.
Not every task is easy. There are some that do not give us the results that we were expecting. This can be deep learning experiences by asking for help. No matter what problems we face there is always another more experienced member who has a solution to share. We have no excuses for not making progress.
Work and Family Life
These hills and valleys exist in all aspects of our lives. Work, home, school, everywhere. When we take action to climb the mountain life takes om a whole different meaning. We can soar to new heights. We can achieve great things. Do not let past failures define who we become. It is in our power to shape our futures that create a sense of accomplishment and happiness. And yes, at times even euphoric!
Let's put on our walking gear and climbing boots and head up the mountain together!

If you don’t mind I think I will pass on putting on walking gear and slipping on climbing boots this morning. It is 23 degrees F here.
So looking forward to warmer temperatures and maybe even some sunshine.
Edwin wonderful analog between the hills and valleys relating to our highs and lows in life from depression to euphoria. Isn’t it great to have the two emotions to compare personal feelings with our surroundings
Have a great weekend
Barry
Thank you for that I am in one of the valleys at the moment but I am working on climbing the mountains.
