Happy Christmas and A Merry New Year!

It's almost Christmas. The grand kids are in bed. Time to have a rest before setting the scene for Santa's arrival.

The girls made a list for Santa. We told them they should have done that a week ago. Santa won't forget them, but they may not get what they put on their list.

The older girl said she loved Pokémon stuff. So I asked if she would like Pokémon cards? She said yes! As luck would have it I held on to my sons Pokemon collection. That gave me an idea. That collection will be under the tree for his daughter.

I got them to hand candy cane on the tree. Some of that went into their mouths lol.

The Santa Clause

Then they wanted to check out of the window to see if they could see Santa.

Instead of baking cookies, my wife suggested they bake a lemon cake for Santa. They helped in the kitchen and a slice was cut and left for Santa. And carrots for the reindeer. I'll be munching on some carrots tonight ha.

Present Meets The Past

Our son has called a couple of times to see how his kids are doing. He's setting up a visit at New Year to pick them up and drive back to a city north of Salt Lake City.

I showed them a Christmas Ornament with a picture of a 9-year-old boy in it. I asked them what they thought of him. They said he looked really cute, being the same age as one of the girls. They could meet him if they wanted to.

Then something clicked with the 9-year-old. She said she knew who that boy was. Her dad! I mentioned that this was his Christmas project at the end of the last Century. I got them to hang it on the tree.

Nostalgia

Before they leave I'll be showing them several pictures of their dad growing up. One will be with their dad and the Cardinal. Our son met the Cardinal at the church rectory where my wife was preparing dinner for the clergy.

Our son asked him why was he wearing a Halloween costume lol! He was 5 at the time and the Cardinal was visiting for the school Confirmation ceremony.

Wait! I can hear sleigh bells. I better go check this out. Wow! I see Santa flying through the sky in his sleigh pulled by eight reindeer! I better go to bed or Santa might miss visiting our house.

Merry Christmas to All, and to All a Good Night.

Cheers!

Edwin

Hi Edwin

I thought it was MERRY Christmas and HAPPY New Year?? I must have it backwards! 😊😊

You have a wonderful family, so you are truly a very lucky guy!

Merry Christmas and Enjoy the day, 🎄🎁🎅
Frank

Hi Frank,

I was being playful with my greeting. You are correct. However, people tend to be more merry because of the New Years parties and drinking all that champagne, I thought it made sense to change that greeting out of fun.

Hope you have a fantastic 2022.

Edwin

Hi, Edwin

Merry New Year actually sounds great to me!

My wife and I love New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, covid has toned down the parties, for now.

I remember the huge New Years Eve parties my parents had, with up-all-night people sleeping on couches and chairs until 10 or 11 in the morning. My mother would make everyone breakfast when they woke up.

Here's wishing you a Very Merry New Year, Edwin 😊🎉
Frank

I know right? Earlier this century I used to organize New Year's Eve paid parties for charitable causes. They were very challenging. Everyone had a great time though.

Our party days are long past now. My wife and I much prefer to stay home and watch the merriment on the TV while we open a bottle of Champagne and share it. I usually get a platter of snow crab legs to accompany the Champagne.

Cheers.

Edwin

That’s a great idea, Edwin! I’ll add some crab legs to our New Years Eve menu.

We typically stay home and invite others to come join us.

Thanks & Have A Great (Happy and Merry) 2022! 🍾🥂
Frank
