Am I Nuts?

You’re probably thinking why do that? Why should you go against the flow? Isn’t it harder to swim or row upstream to use this analogy. Life is less complicated if you don’t make waves. It is so much easier to make and keep friends if you go in the same direction as them.

When we look at our lives and think about the actions we’ve taken over the years, they are not too different to what our friends are doing. The cliche Keeping Up With The Joneses applies to each of us in many ways.

Let’s dig deeper

When real estate developers fist started building homes for the growing Hollywood studios they created a huge sign up on the hills overlooking their development area. It read HOLLYWOODLAND. That was the name of their gated community. This was in 1923.

Someone in that team had the vision to try a new approach in advertising. They did the opposite of what everyone else was doing. It worked!

That community is alive and well today almost 100 years later. That sign saw better days and lost some letters including the first H. Plans were started to remove that sign.

The City of LA had a brilliant idea. Why not change the sign to read HOLLYWOOD?

The rest is history. I took a picture of this sign during a walk around Hollywood Reservoir.

Lessons we can learn

Have you given some thought to why is it that only about 10% of the population rise to the top? The answer is simple. They do not do what the other 90% are doing.

This happens to be the case with every member here. We are in that top 10% of the population. Not all of us may have achieved the level of success we have planned. By sticking to the program we will get there.

I can bet that the vase majority of your family and friends are not members of WA. Right? So that proves you are doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing.

Working in a JOB vs Building an ASSET

The lessons we are taught here at Wealthy Affiliate are all about building assets. Our website designed to attract customers to buy the products we are promoting is an asset. Once built and honed correctly it will pay us over and over again without having to work an 8-hour day like a job. Off course it takes time. Having a job while you are building your asset is necessary. The goal is that you will be able to replace your income with your affiliate website and thereby

YOU CAN FIRE YOUR BOSS!

I am sure you have heard this cliche many times. But with WA, members who have succeeded have proved this is true.

Analogies

There are many analogies around. Such as acting in a movie, Writing a book. Owning vending machines. Building a successful network in a Network Marketing company. They all have one thing in common.

You work your butt off once, no matter how long it may take. Once completed, you will be paid over and over again without having to work at it again.

Sure, tweaks may be needed time to time. However, creating income generating assets is what gives us TIME FREEDOM.

Individuals in high paying jobs like doctors and lawyers only get paid when they work. No work, no pay. And boy do they put in the hours. They are trapped by their careers. All the luxuries in life that they can buy will not give them the time they need to enjoy what they own.

Worse yet. They can't take off in a trip whenever they want to. Their families can only enjoy being with them in small increments if at all.

The Moral?

Work hard and smart here with WA and make the goldmine we are building happen!
