I am spending between 30 minutes and 90 minutes every day ploughing through dozens of Emails. I feel obligated to read each one but only respond to about half of these. Is this the norm or am I being incredibly stupid. Your honest comments will be appreciated.

I do the same thing; I really only respond to the ones that I feel I can contribute. I think it is up to us to spend as much or as little time on that as we like : )

Hi
I am sure there are many of us who felt or maybe still feel as though we are using up too much of our time reading emails and blogs rather than working on our website etc.
I have now disabled some of the options and will go through the activity area as and when I have the time and read what I feel will be interesting from there. I do spend time answering a few questions from there when I feel I have the knowledge.
If you would like to change the emails you receive, click on your profile (image) at the top right hand side of the screen, then go to Account settings and scroll down. Right under Email Notification settings you can Un-click the emails you wish to stop receiving. You can always go back at a later date if you wish to start receiving some of the emails again.
I hope this helps.

Greetings Victoria, This was an email I was happy to get. Will certainly use you recommendation. Many Thanks.

No obligation whatsoever to do that. Just screen and go, what captures your interest and delete the ones that you don't. Alternatively, if you don't want to receive email there's an option in your profile settings.

Thanks for your response, my problem is screening, what to delete & what to keep. As a newbie I am sure this will get easier.

Ed,
Until a few weeks a ago I had the same issue. I limit the amount of time I spend answering emails to no more than 30 mins at a time. This has really forced me to weed out the emails. I mentally group into 3 categories:

-Of no interest( delete immediately)
-Interested, will read later( bookmark then delete)
- respond and follows ( respond immediately and delete)

I have been able to manage my email this way. Perhaps you may have a slightly different method but I hope this helps. You are wise for addressing this now instead of later!

Debby

Greetings Debby, Thanks for the info, I will certainly apply.
