Gmail No Longer Blocking Images By Default! Amen...!!

For any of you that use email list management providers such as Aweber, GetResponse, Constant Contact to deliver emails to your list or visitors, you should be very happy today. Most of these companies use tiny invisible image pixels placed in your emails to track your email open rate.

In the past these images would be automatically blocked by Gmail which a large number of people use. But with today's announcement these images will show by default in the emails.

Why Should You Care?

Better Open Rate Tracking: You should see a jump in open rate stats in your list provider dashboard. This should give you a better gauge of how many people are actually reading your message especially if you have a lot of gmail users on your list.

Better Click Through Rates & Conversions: If you design "pretty" html emails and newsletters that used a lot of images, chances are people weren't seeing them or the calls to action in them. Now with this change, your subscribers will see them if they use Gmail. And chances are they will be more responsive and likely to click on these images now.

So this is definitely a win for email marketers! You can read more about this on Google & Aweber's blog.

Hopefully all the other email providers follow suit! It would make our email marketing a lot easier to track!

Now let's hope Gmail gets rid of that stupid promotion tab that our messages end up in!

What you think about this announcement? Do you think it will help your email marketing tracking efforts?
