I Lost Momentum

It's been challenging to stay focus on one thing for me the past two weeks. Here in the United States we've seen major collitions among the nations and beliefs.

Yes I got caught up with all the drama.

Have you ever experience a loss of momentum?

I did the last two weeks. I didn't have scheduled meetings to enroll new clients. I couldn't get warm leads to commit for a followup meeting. It was hard to increase our cashflow. And I felt responsible for all of it.

I can't tell you it was all due to the drama in our nation but it did affect me emotionally. I lost focus because I started to get caught up with the news, the social media and all the stuff happing around the world. I even started blaming the national situation to less appointments and no sales.

So what do you do when you lose momentum?

Here's what I do... I completely shut off all external sources that are negative and hyped-up with drama!

The middle of last week my wife told me that I wasn't acting the normal optimistic me. Even my daughter mentioned I was looking upset and sad.

That's it!!!

I started to unfollow every news media out there, I removed social media apps from my phone and decided to take a whole day completely without any media. And guess what happened?

Just in one whole day I felt better, I slept better and in my morning walk with my wife I started feeling refreshed.

Do you see the key ingredient that will shut down your momentum?

It's your focus placed on the negative, dull, unproductive drama.

And how do you fix it?

Do the opposite and focus on the positive, enjoyable, productive behaviour.

Final thoughts...

Listen, it happens to all of us but it's what we do with this type of lessons. I could have chosen to stay unfocus and unproductive. BUT I didn't!

Our entreprenuer path is not how quickly you succeed but instead how many obstacles would you go through to succeed.

I agree, but at the same time disagree! We can't live in a vacuum either, we need news, but with so much of it being inaccurate who do we believe? Anyway, I am glad you have done what you need to get back on top of things, Eddie!

Jeff

That's a good point of view and I appreciate you Jeff for bringing it up. And I do agree with you because we need to be aware of surrounding situations.

One thing I do is once a week check the epoc times for relevant news that I care about and then I follow my local city tweets for important info. I don't have any notifications on my phone except text and calls. plus I only have apps on my Home Screen I use daily, the rest are tucked away.

I'm glad to hear that, Eddie! I too am an Epoch Times subscriber!

Jeff

oh that's cool!

I love getting real unbiased news now, Eddie!

Hey Eddie I am glad you were able to wrest the Beast of Distraction and retake your focus. Wishing you upcoming success.
Hugh

thanks Hugh! and I like your description... beast of distraction! that's a monster we all need to overtake.

For real!

Like your thoughts. How true it is: we must guard our minds.
It's so true. We learn through mistakes. The best thing we can do for ourselves is recognize them, the sooner the better. and something to change them. Looks like you are skilled at that.

I thing I do if I need motivation for online marketing is to watch and listen to a motivating YouTube presentation: one that talks about affiliate marketing.

Here's to a great 2021.

yes it's a skilled learned to shake it off within days instead of taking months. I like what you said... to watch and listen to a motivating YouTube video. What I also do is watch comedy and that gets me laughing so much that my world starts to brighten up. One of my favorite comedian is Fluffy (Gabriel Iglesias), look him up on Youtube. You'll get a kick out of him. He's funny!

Thanks for the idea.

Sometimes life gets in the way Eddie and we do lose focus

The positive thing is that on reflection, we are right back where we belong

I agree with you Simone. Once we understand that losing focus is not a bad thing, it's a crucial part in our entrepreneur life to adjust and calibrate our approach to reach our goals. Years ago it used to take me months to get back on track, now it quicker in just a day. ;-)

Thanks Simone for you encouragement.

Always welcome Eddie
