If You Want to Change Your Life for the Better,
Change your daily habits.
Personally, I always start small. So small. Think baby steps.
When I decided to give this Affiliate Marketing work an honest try, I knew a lot of changes would be involved. I wondered, how was this going to work? Would it work?
In a few weeks I'll be deciding if it's working out for me. I'm thinking the answer will probably be yes. I've adopted quite a few new habits to support this business venture.
I knew I needed to focus more on my business than on the news or personal social media - much more. Last week I instituted a new daily habit.
While the coffee is brewing each morning at 4:30 I go straight to Email and respond to any site comments or correspondence from affiliate programs. Then I check out my google alerts to see if there's anything there I can share to my business-related social media accounts. Often there isn't, but I find that a news search will usually net something. I post it to facebook or twitter, then give myself permission to read the news and check what family and friends are doing on Facebook.
After I go out to exercise, shop and attend my "day job," I come home and turn on the computer again, Immediately bringing up my most recent blog post or page draft. Creating content quickly enough is my biggest problem right now. I am still not publishing as much as I would like. I know I need to ALWAYS be working on content. Every time I publish content, I immediately find an appropriate title and theme for my next post or page and open it in draft form. I keep it open most of the time, researching, typing and thinking about it until it's done. Then I start the process over.
When I'm working on my site or affiliate marketing lessons, I wear my headphones and play Baroque music, Ottmar Liebert or Gregorian chant. Those three allow me to focus optimally. At the top of each hour I stop for 15 minutes to perform household tasks, fix meals or exercise a little bit.
I adopted this last habit because I needed to remain physically active in order to stay healthy, and meals and housework had to be done. Yes, blogging is is sedentary work, but I hope to keep it from being catastrophically so.
The daily habits I've formed seem to be helping me to become effective in Affiliate Marketing. I hope some of these ideas will help others who might be struggling. This system of making small, seemingly insignificant changes really does help. If a problem arises, I generally ask myself, "What small change can I institute each day to fix this?" The tiny changes become big assets over time.
If you have some small daily habits that help you be more productive, please share them with me. I got the idea of listening to Baroque music while working from a WA member. I adopted the habit, and I really like it. Perhaps you'll find a daily habit here that works for you.
All the best,
E. Conley

PS: A few hours after I read this I published my latest post, and proudly showed it to my husband. I wanted him to see what I'd been working on, and that I had been making progress. My site was looking more professional.
He was very positive and encouraging, but when I pushed him he did point out that I had made some grammar and spelling errors. This was very helpful feedback. I didn't need a cheerleader, I needed a partner. My loving man is good for both, in their proper season.
In response to his constructive criticism, I changed my publishing routine. I love to create my posts on my little tablet, lounging with my feet propped up by several pillows. That's all well and good, but from now on I am going to bring my posts up on my large screen laptop with Office Suite, and thoroughly check my spelling and grammar with M.S. Word.
Problem solved. A new habit is forming, because it really pays to be teachable and apply what is learned in a practical manner.
Glad to know that we can check spelling and grammar with M.S Word. I will try it. Thank you for the info.
