Hi!

My name is Tom and I am excited to be here at WA!

I'm hoping to learn how to help others meet their goals of establishing a prosperous online business and in the process establish one for my family as well.

In today's changing world, it is more important than ever to diversify your income streams. Working a "clock punching" job may provide a certain level of stability, but, if you are like me, you have found that it just doesn't allow you to grow to your potential, or, allow you to have the freedom to manage your time so that you can pursue the more important things in life.

Spending time with your family for example. Being there to enjoy teaching your children, watching them grow. I feel like I have been robbed over the years of some of the most important times in my family's life. Times that I will never be able to recover, simply because I have traded my time for a paycheck.

I see these same things now happening to my children as they are raising their children. The days slip by. Both them and I consumed with the day to day requirements of life in our modern world.

Each day comes with a cost, measurable in dollars, for our meager existence. The mortgage, car payments, insurance, credit cards, and a vast array of other expenses that I am sure you can relate to.

With all these burdens on our financial lives, to spend our most precious of resources, our time, trading it, for what someone else believes our time is worth, is ludicrous, and a battle we are sure to lose.

I have heard it said that you can never become wealthy trading your time for money. Put another way I recently read "the monkey dances for coins". I am tired of being the monkey scraping by on the scraps that are thrown to me.

I bet you feel the same way.

That's why we are here! At Wealthy Affiliate! Working toward a better way to secure a path for ourselves and our families.

I'm hoping to learn how to help others meet their goals of establishing a prosperous online business and in the process establish one for my family as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile!
I would be very interested in your perspective of what I have written here.
Please feel free to send me a line or two, or contact me if you think I can be of any help to you.

I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors!

Sincerely,
Tom

PS. If you have the time, could you please check out my websites listed in the panel to the right and leave a comment on the website? I would really appreciate it! Good luck to you !

UPDATE!!! Well, I have been here over a year now and I have to tell you I Love Wealthy Affiliate! No kidding!

I have really learned a lot here, and, even though I have had a few setbacks, Wealthy Affiliate is working for me! I have been implementing what I have learned in the lessons and it is generating some revenue!

One of my previously stated goals was to "learn to help others meet their goals of establishing a prosperous online business." I'm still working toward that goal. Becoming proficient with the tools of the trade here will definitely be a huge help!

Many thanks to all those that have helped me along the way and to those that are new here, if I can be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask!

I wish you all great success and prosperity!

Sincerely,
Tom

Pleased to make your acquaintance.
I agree that working for the 'man' doesn't let you grow to your full potential, but the stability part is not so true these days.

Almost on a whim you can be kicked out of your job.

I've never really felt secure having someone else in charge of my destiny.

WA may well be the answer to my prayers :)

Hello Tw1:

Thank you for following me! What is the name of your website?

Maybe you can help me out - I have been stuck on the Site Comment section in level 2 for 2 months now. It will not allow me to leave a comment on the individuals's site at all.

So, you have been with WA, alot longer than I have, I am glad that I took the chance to sign up with them. I feel it will be very beneficial for me as I keep plugging along. Taking alot longer than I expected.

Hi Ramona!
Very nice to meet you! I'm happy to be of help if I can.

I have to say that I don't think I have had the issue that you are having.

Can you please be a little more specific. Are you referring to the bootcamp training or the certification course. You mentioned level 2, which lesson are you on please?

I will take a look and see if there is anything I can do.

Sincerely,
Tom

Thank you very much Tom, I take the floor and of course, we are in contact. I am here, because an English friend recommended this program, how you will see! , I have 6 years, well, almost 7 years involved in marketing. In all that time, I have realized that many things do not work by magic, you have to put time and effort, that is how you say, I have been the monkey and I have been subjected to many deceits of people without scruples that nothing else They take out the ticket and run off. But no longer, now I know how to act and see the pages that are authentic.

On the other hand, I have two Daughters and a 5 year old grandson. My second daughter is in 4th grade or first grade.

My conclusion on this page is very dynamic and everyone here helps each other and that is what it is all about helping each other and meeting new friends. You are already my friend, because we are in the same boat, sharing experiences and anecdotes of each one.

I am Mexican, I live in the province, I work in a Technological University Located in the State of Hidalgo Mexico.

Well, that is all for the moment, I appreciate that you have read these lines, likewise, also my trust and friendship. My motto is: "Being wise and not rich", in other words to know more in order to overcome any obstacle, money is important, but you must know how to manage it and put it into something productive and useful.

Thank you for everything, see you soon.
Greetings Codiales, your Friend:
Mario.

Yeah mate, I am sick of eating bananas too.
Working a "clock punching" job may provide a certain level of stability, but, if you are like me, you have found that it just doesn't allow you to grow to your potential - This paragraph just about sums it up Tom.
Hopefully, soon we won't have to swing out of a trees.

Hi Tom
As you were one of the first to contact me after after joining as a Prem member a few days ago, I need to ask a question !!
On Facebook i follow friends and family, on Insta i follow people with similar genre interests. I joined WA and I have so many follows and emails just in a few days. What is the criteria by which I should follow? I am just working through the lessons and I have these multitudes of messages and followers, do I follow everyone back and do I follow everyone ?? Certainly takes time as you have to load up ones profile everytime !! What are the advantages of following someone I have no connection with ??
I've sent a similar email to Kyle with no response.
Certainly keen to make progress but quite an overwhelming amount of information to deal with !!

Greetings Dale!

You are asking a question that I see fairly frequently. I hope that you were not "put off" by all the folks here welcoming you and following you.

I would suggest to you that you follow everyone that you have the opportunity to.

You never know where that next tidbit of information will come from that can catapult your new enterprise to the next level. By following people here, you will be more exposed to their postings here.

Sure there will be many that won't be of specific interest to you, but, just one great tip, or answer to a question, can make the world of difference to you.

Another thing to consider about following and having followers:
When we engage in website building and online marketing, generally we want to attract the largest audience possible.

So not only will you want increase your network here at WA, but, you will want to do this on social media sites as well.

The most important thing for you to work on in the beginning here at WA is to follow the lesson plans and implement what you are learning as you go. Build your first site while you are going through the training process!

In the end you will likely have more than one site, perhaps in different niches. Consider it like fishing. If you have the opportunity, wouldn't you use more than one line to fish with?

I hope you found this helpful! Please let me know if I can be of any further service. I'm happy to help if I can!

Sincerely,
Tom

Greetings Kevin,

Thank you very much for following me as well! I know exactly how you feel about the feelings you get here at Wealthy Affiliate.

It is one of the reasons I am so happy to share Wealthy Affiliate with anyone who might be interested.

I too have had a lot of experience with other programs and truth be told most all of them left a bad taste in my mouth, and my pockets empty. It honestly felt like I was being played simply because I was striving for something more than the norm.

Most of the "programs" out there really are just about separating you from your money. It turns my stomach. I don't want to do that kind of business.

Thankfully, WA is completely different! It really does provide one with the opportunity to learn to use tools of the trade that make people successful. It doesn't promise pie in the sky, and nothing is going to be "done for you."

But, if you are diligent and apply what you learn here, you can and will be successful.

My advice to newbies, follow the lessons and implement what you learn. Be prepared to stay at it. Be sure to choose a niche that you really want to write about everyday. Something that is important to you, and that captures your interest.

If it captures your interest, there are sure to be many other people out there that feel the same way.

There is so much more to say here, but, if you follow the plan, and really put consistent effort into it, you will succeed.

I wish you great success and prosperity, and I look forward to hearing about your progress.

Please let me know if I can be of any help to you.
Sincerely,
Tom

Hi Debi!
Very nice to meet you!

You and your husband have embarked on a journey that my wife and I intend to do in a few years. We too want to buy an RV and travel the country.

I have many years on the road as an owner operator of an 18 wheeler, but my wife did not come along with me on these journeys. I have personally crisscrossed the entire contiguous 48 states and all of the southern provinces of Canada, but it it my wife's dream to see the country as well.

I look forward to being in your shoes, so to speak! She has a few more years before she can retire from her position with the local school board, but after that we hope to be able to see all the beauty that is America and find some new adventures along the way.

I took a moment to have a brief look at your website, it seems like you have a good beginning there! Don't give up! Keep at it!

Like anything in life, if you want your project to be successful, you have to keep pounding away at it. You are already in the right place here, and I know you know that. Now it's just a matter of following the instructions here, and implementing what you learn on your site, or sites.

I think you could really do well in the niche you have chosen to pursue! There are a ton of people that are interested in the RV lifestyle, and, because you are living it, you will become the authority!

Please let me know if I can be of any help to you!
I wish you great success and prosperity!
Sincerely,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Great introductory article. You got it right when you said that you the reader would know where you were coming from. I just started here at WA. How about you? Are you new at WA or have you been here a while? Thought maybe you could offer some enlightenment if you have gone through your trainings and have actually started to earn some income by now.

Either way, good luck to you.

Hi Janis,

Very nice to meet you and welcome to WA!
I have been here about a year and a half now. Thanks for asking.

I am generating some revenue, and still working hard to forward my goals. Like all things it's a work in progress.

What to do first here?

Follow the training! Create your first site while you are in training!
I recommend using multiple monitors if you are not doing so already. This will make it easy to be watching the video lessons from Kyle, and doing the work at the same time on the other screen.

If you are having trouble picking a niche to build your site on, consider doing the Affiliate Bootcamp. It's a great way to get some experience using the tools of site creation and there are some nice commissions to be earned!

Let me know if I can be of any assistance!
I wish you great success and prosperity.
Sincerely,
Tom

Hi there

It seems like you have been on the journey for a year or so now and you are making some income from it. That's great news, and that's certainly where I want to be.

I have 10 years until retirement - if I make it that far. My goal is to earn an income from WA that will then set me up to keep earning an income once I retire, whether that's by choice or by force of circumstance.

I am still learning, I have a number of projects on and this is a big one for me. I am still getting my head around the google keywords and haven't got to the bit where the money comes in. I have been investing time writing a blog which will become the basis of my site, I have 35 posts so far (one a day for five weeks). I want to get more posts under my sleeve while I learn more of the basics.

My question to you is: does this strategy make sense or should I publish a site and get it moving right away? Any feedback on this from someone who has got past this point would be useful, thank you.
Reply
Tw1 Premium
Good Morning Magius!
Thank you for writing.

My suggestion to you is to build a site while you are learning! When you say you have 35 posts, where are they if they are not on a site?

While I can see some advantage to having a bunch of posts pre-written so that you have plenty of content when you start your site, one potential disadvantage of this might be that you could be increasing your site authority and reputation by having it posted and live.

Your overall site health is impacted by many things, including things like:

The average length of your posts
The Frequency at which you post
The age of your website. "Site Trust"

Site Trust is one thing that you cannot create artificially. It takes time for it to grow. A new site that is updated regularly with quality content will tend to grow site trust at about 10% per month.

So even if you have all the content ready to go, and post it all at once, it will take time to develop site trust.

---------

In general, I recommend that people follow the lessons, and implement what you are learning on your site immediately. While you are training. To me this is the quickest way to success.

Another advantage of this is you will certainly have some bumps in the road in the process, these are learning opportunities as well.

In the end, most successful people here have more than one site. Many sites in some cases. Like when Edison was inventing the lightbulb, it took many, many tries to get it just right.

I hope this was helpful to you, and I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Tom

Like you I traded a lot of time with them for a paycheck because this was the thing to do. Letting someone else tell you what you are worth is so very demeaning. Hello Tom,

You have defined my living/working experience almost to a T. It is sad to think that it has come to a point that "Corporate America" has forgotten that the people that we work to have a life with our families. Our families have had to become an after thought to make ant kind of success in the greed created world.

I am also here to better my life, be able to spend the best parts of it growing old and enjoying the love of my life. Who I must say trades his time to provide for me. He gets out of bed every day no matter the weather to run a manager a disabled crew of 15 doing ground maintenance. He has patients of a saint and wings I don't think he sees. When he's done he comes home to me never knowing what kind of day I may be having as I adjust from suffering from PTSD to living with PTSD.

I want to make a life for us that we can enjoy together and travel the country golfing.

Your update was the inspiration I believe I needed to really believe I found something here at WA.

Thank You,

Nice to connect with you Tom. Thank you for the follow. I followed you back. I read all of your bio and we are like minded when it comes to employment. Employers sell goods and services. We sell time. They don't like to hear this, In my 50 years of working I was never union. However, I have concluded that there are union members being treated well and non union members that are being taken advantage of. Of course this is not a perfect system either. My parents went through the depression and WWII and they seemed to be grateful for what they did have. We are from a different era and we are vocal about the chains of employment. I resisted this a little more than 40 years ago and paid a high price for my want of independence. I'm hoping that this electronic era will finally give us the freedom we want. Best regards my friend. Bob

Greetings Bob!

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile message. I, like you, also hope that this "electronic era" will offer the opportunity to even the playing field for those that are willing to do the work.

I hope that my efforts here will pay of in a way that the younger generations of my family, and others, will be able to profit from it not just monetarily, but, from the perspective of the freedom to use their time as they see fit.

There is nothing more important in my opinion than the time you spend with children and family. The need to spend time with them and pass on family values is more important with each passing day.

If we neglect to pass on the values that are important to us, we can be sure that the world will fill in the blanks. That is not how I would like to see the book written.

Thank you again for your thoughtful perspective! I wish you great success and prosperity!

Tom

Hello Tom,
You couldn't have said it better about how we are in a no win lifestyle in most cases. We do trade our time for money and not get very far. Most people work on the same old routine for years with only a few days off to look forward to. Family time is there and is beautiful but we are robbed of much of that precious time.

Hi Tom I'm glad that you are now reaping from those courageous steps of determination to go against the norm. Speaking for myself I can relate to many of what you have posted, I have never really been a 9 to 5 person, but I understood the need to step outside of my comfort zone to go into a direction that was foreign in order to achieve the level of success I was searching for. I'm learning that to not focus on my own abilities but to lean on God almighty via the scripture in Matthew 6:33. This of course is easier said than done however, it's removed much of the burden off of myself and into His hands. My focus is simply on Him, I just work on what's in front of me and let Him handle the rest. My desire is to be a blessing and to help others and I can see you as well have that heart. God will honor those who are selfless and obedient. Keep growing and building, God Bless you and your family. As long as we are breathing we can grow and learn, one step at a time.

Reading your profile, I see that you have "a passion for beekeeping." I have never kept bees, but I will sometime put out some food for them, and I have been able to draw a few hundred at a time. :) I have found they like humming bird food and they are also fans of mountain dew. Lol...

Good Luck in your endeavors here at Wealthy Affiliate and beyond! Let me know if I can be of any help.

Hi Tom, thank you for following me and your words of encouragement. Best wishes for your continued success. You are correct when you talk about time and money. Time if a precious gift, enjoy each moment and the money will follow! I believe the secret to success, is to earn money while enjoying what you do. That way, it does not feel like work at all. Your sentiment about lost time resonates with me. My hope has always been that internet marketing could free me from the bondage of work. But I found that there is false hope associated with many people promising so much. Yet I remain positive because my personal seeking has led me here. And to you as well. There has to be a great deal more we could do together than as individuals. I have only been here less than a day, but I am overjoyed with the reception and quality of interaction and service. I couldn't find a link to your site, but I would be happy to check it out. Peace, grace, and new beginnings!

Hi Tom,

Loved reading your profile. I totally understand how you feel. I have had my own conventional manufacturing business for many years and only reciently decided to make a complete change due to many of the things you mentioned in your profile.

One thing I have learnt reciently is to Focus on what you really want in Life and don't focus on what you don't want. This may sound a bit obvious but most people don't actually do it.

I do believe you can do and be anything to want in life you just have to believe in yourself and take action every day.

Hi, Tom. Very nice to meet you :) Thank you for the follow. Being a stay-at-home mom who homeschooled my children I was fortunate to be able to watch them grow and was instrumental in their education yet I can still relate to your feelings of being robbed but rather of quality family leisure time. I think most parents suffer from 'cat's in the cradle' syndrome in one way or another. But as you stated, that's why we're here. I wish you much success.

Tom, you are right on the money about time for dollars. I love my work but the part that just drives me around the bend is the "wage Slave" mentality of some of my co-workers. Although I love my job I don't want to do it forever and would love to spend more time with the kids and grand-kids helping them create a future that doesn't include "pay per hour". That's why I am here at WA. To lead by example.

Hey Tom,

I originally signed up for Wealthy Affiliate years ago, and only stayed about a month or two. Life kind of got in the way, but thankfully I never forgot about WA. Early July of this year, 2016, I knew it was time to go premium and make a real go of it. I worked support work in a hospital for over 11 years now, and as much as I don't mind my job, I'm like yourself in a way, I just want to be free from working for someone else. I would rather be my own boss, than rely on someone else who has the say about my pay, and more importantly my time. So it hasn't been a month yet, and I am working on the Affiliate Bootcamp as much as I can. I'm sure before too long it will pay off but so far no income. I'd love to be free from the daily grind, and even get my wife free from it too!

I do know it is possible, as there are people here who have replaced their job and their spouses job. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. Our time and effort will pay off! I believe that, and I believe in Wealthy Affiliate!

I'm sure I'll see you around Tom,

Jon

Hi Tom, would like to invite you to join a group to help each other improve Google rankings. Google rely on "engagement metrics" results (which can be found in google analytics) to determine our rankings in Google search results. Please read further below:

Google is putting more emphasis in User Experience. Because Google can't read human's mind, Google rely on engagement metrics, which can be found in Google Analytics to judge user experience. For examples :
1. Sessions with search : total number of visitors who searched for your website in Googl search
2. Results Pageview / Search : total number of pages visited after clicking into your website from search results
3. Click Through Rate (CTR) : the percentage of users clicking into your website from search results
4. Pageview : total number of pageviews
5. Unique pageviews : total number of pageviews by new users
6. Avg. time on page : average time spent reading a page
7. Pages/session : average number of pages users navigated when visiting your site
8. Avg. session duration : average time spent navigating your website
9. Bounce rate : the percentage of users leaving your website without navigating to a second page

Better engagement metrics results indicate good user experience to Google, which will improve our rankings.

I have started a ranking tool in my site to do exactly that, inviting people within WA community and people from other communities, so that we can get more people to contribute in this group.

REMEMBER THIS : ALL EFFORT IS WORTHLESS IF NOBODY IS VISITING YOUR WEBSITE.

Using this tool in a consistent manner will effectively improve your Google ranking.

Please visit http://www.kickstartdream.com, and click on Ranking Tool.

Thank you Steve for sharing this post ('Escaping...). Thanks Tom for hosting it. Below are my first impressions (thoughts).

The post, Tom's remarks and Dr Deb's comments, in my mind lead to the question we need to ask ourselves, and our educators, i.e., "Are we teaching our students on 'HOW TO THINK?'.

I'll re-visit and digest this and some other posts. I believe I've found a great resource to help me understand civility, what is civil society, and what outcomes to expect of our educators. Thanks again. >>

I wonder the same thing > " Are we teaching our students hot to think?"

I fear that we are NOT. Since now they need a safe space anytime they are confronted with an idea that may be contrary to what they already know. Critical thinking is likely not on the agenda of the liberal establishment. They want more sheep, not more leaders.. Just my opinion.

Open discussion of differing opinions is how we learn and grow. Without it, education is just preaching.

All the best to you!

Ya know ! it's not easy sometimes. I'm actually going to the roughest time of my life now. I will fight to resolve everything. I do know the why's and have certainty to why I am here . This is very important to know. It is the same for you.
Like you i guess we just need to move on. I also quess that it is very important to the " WHY " we are doing this and have this certainty that should go with it. I realize i am repeating myself. Discover "WHY" you are doing this and have tremendous "CERTAINTY" and that will bring you to succeed in what we here all wish to do or to have. If I can I will follow you too. I truly wish you succeed in what you are doing. It may take time at least that's what I think for me because I don't even really know how an iphone works. I do know the "WHY'S "and just for these "WHY'S" I am able to have this "CERTAINTY" therefore continue towards my goal and eventually succeed.;
Thank you the follow. All the luck to you..

Hi Tom! I really enjoyed reading your bio. It really resonated with me. The whole thing about dancing monkeys hoping to get a few coins is so true. But more than that, the way we live tied to all those "necessary" monthly payments. I live very frugally and I sometimes wonder if other people could let go of the things they think they need. People tend to want more... not less. It's hard to downsize once you've reached a certain level, but I feel a lot more people are going to have to do it anyway in the near future. It's just the way things are.

Best of luck with all you do.

Nice to meet you sir! I believe it it part of our culture to try to have at least one of everything. Many of us are very spoiled with the conveniences of modern life.
