The Struggle

Extra weight can be a burden. I would know. I have struggled with my weight for over a year. Certain things such as medications and mental disabilities such as depression.

Certain medications can make you eat more, as I found out. Depakote, a medication used for seizures as well as other things, made me eat more. My neurologist at the time refused to take me off of it, no matter how much begging I did. So I ate, and ate, and ate. I gained eighty pounds.

I've been taken off of the medication. I walk regularly, and I also run very slowly. Have I been frustrated about my weight? Yes. It doesn't help when people bring home unhealthy food and then tell me not to eat it.

Be strong. Whether you're slim or overweight, you're still a human being. Don't ever let people judge you.

You have been through a lot, my friend. Your positive attitude come through like a shining beam of a star. Anyone with such a positive attitude toward life is already a success, at the game of life.

Thanks for sharing your struggle. I, too, have struggled with my weight, but for me for most of my life. I am on a few medications now that I call "fat magnets" like insulin, so I totally get that, too.
It is really hard when people buy stuff and you love it, but know if you eat it you will gain weight. Most of the time I am able to avoid those foods, but sometimes, like last night, I can't resist and indulge. Then I get up with a really high blood sugar...ugh... It can be a very hard struggle. Just keep persevering! I'm thinking of you.

Best wishes,
Karin :)

There's a medication called Metformin (I have no idea if I spelled that right)

But it regulates your blood sugar. I take it twice a day, it may help you. Try talking to your doctor about it.

Hi. Thanks for replying. I do take it two times a day also. I am also on two injections—one that is weekly and one that is daily (insulin). I have been told that insulin is a total "fat magnet" (attracts and holds onto fat), but right now it's the only thing working for me in combination with the other meds.

But, I'm doing a keto diet, so I have high hopes for that!

Karin :)

You go with your bad self! Congratulations on taking steps to get yourself healthy and active!
