Distractions!!!!
I had a great day with my wife and son today. We were eating at a local restaurant when my son (age 6) requested to sit next to me (instead of mom) while we ate. Joyfully sitting next to me he was smiling and making small talk. I noticed myself watching the TV (World Cup Stuff) and messing with my brand new Smart Phone when it HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS; how lucky I am that my son loves me and wants to spend time with me. I put my smartphone down, looked away from the TV and gave him my full attention that he deserves. From now on, the Phone stays in the car during family outings. I will not let meaningless distractions take away from this fleeting Gift of his loving attention.
