Niche Site Ranking Day 4 (2 Days Late)

Humble apologies dear readers for being so late with this but a healthy dose of Real Life prevented me from accessing my computer - so, where are we?

I now have 3 blog posts published complete with images, affiliate links and a little inter-post linkage.

I've tried to put myself into my visitors shoes and really thought about what they want as and when they visit me. I believe that they are, obviously, looking for portion control plates but they could also be interested in bowls, spoons and just general information

So, I made my category headings part of the main menu so they can switch between categories easily. I also have a main 'blog' page where I intend to provide links to various newsworthy articles that have published online although that will take people away from my site

I set up Google Alerts that send me an email each day with links to articles that have the phrase 'portion control' in them. Most of the articles so far aren't worth repurposing but I do find the occassional nugget that is worth expanding upon.

I have set up a contact page and an affiliate disclaimer - all of the 'legal' pages are linked to in my footer area (not via the main menu)

I have created a logo (through Canva dot com) but this particular theme doesn't allow me to have both a logo and a header - bit of a pity from a branding point of view but no real loss.

Time Sinks:

Research - a massive amount of time has been spent doing research on each of the blog entries. You'd think that, because they're basically Amazon information, they'd be easy to churn out.

Yes, they probably would be, but they would all end up looking the same, there would be no differentiation, nothing to add to the user experience. So I have tried to find articles to link to, videos to embed, tables to fill in - just to make each blog post different and engaging. Time will tell whether that is a successful route to go down.

To Do:

  • Finish a category post (bowls),
  • finish a news-y blog post,
  • add all posts to my G+ account.
  • Do a 'Fetch As Google' on all posts/ 'public' pages (no point on the 'legal' pages - all of those are 'no index, no follow' pages anyway.)
  • Check my All-In-One Seo titles and description are as good as they can be.
  • Get Ranked In Google!

Yes, I'm still without any mention of post/pages in Google but if you put the whole URL into google then all my pages are mentioned there (including the 1st post in this series!)

So, hopefully fetching them as google and placing them into G+ posts could influence a change - hope so!

I'll be back
