MLM experience

I started with Amway in approximately 1992. At that time, I did not realize that I had been in the MLM business earlier. As a very young man I had joined Shaklee. The training provided by Shaklee sponsor was so poor that I did not realize what the business was all about.

Nevertheless, my experience with Amway was life-changing in a number of ways. I was exposed to a great number of personal growth tools and speakers (I did not realize that my upline was making more money with the tools than the actual Amway products at the time but I did benefit from the exposure to a different mentality, the entrepreneur mentality).

I never made a great deal of money with Amway. My upline was a state away and the emphasis on selling tickets to training and attending events became too expensive and burdensome for me and my downline.

After Amway I drifted from a "seemingly random series" (my son and I have a habit of capturing and using movie quotes as a regular part of our conversations and this one from the minister in the early part of Big Chill has always stuck) of MLM opportunities including Reliv, Nikken, Xyng, Genewize, a small startup involving fuel savings, another small startup involving energy sprays to compete with 5 hour energy, Vemma, Visalus, Lightyear, etc.

There were few product sales. Emphasis was always on recruiting. I saw the potential for big money, why did the others fail to see it? My computer is full of saved websites offering training in building your MLM business.

I have read about affiliate marketing before but never delved in UNTIL NOW. The idea of product sales generating compensation together with the added benefit of earning from showing others how to do the same seems like what I have been trying to find all along. I sure hope that I am correct in my assessment of this opportunity and this structure.

I look forward to the interactions and education. Not quite sure about my first niche yet but I have a couple of ideas.

Like you, I too have tried Amway in the past, Charles. I did enjoy using many of their products but I wasn't into the recruiting part. I think nowadays that there are just too many of them out there for anyone in the lower ranks to make any money - unless you have a massive extended family purchasing off you.

Hi Charles. I have also been involved with a few MLM's and they never turned out to be what I had hoped and dreamed.

I think the more you get into affiliate marketing training, you will see that you are right about your assessment of the opportunity we are given here.

All the best! :)
