Is Back linking Frowned upon ?
Hi there,
O.k so I'm sure this has been a hot topic in the past but i'll ask anyway.
Is it true that back linking can be frowned upon by search engines ? Some say it's fine if done judiciously, Iv'e read some training saying it is not necessary to do this at all in 2017 as it is primarily good low competition keywords and great content that wins the day.
Don't be lazy - just write good content Dan ?
I want to link to one site in my niche in one blog post or a possible 2 way banner deal. Is that o.k to do, as that site is getting allot more traffic than me right now or is this a redundant theory ?
EXAMPLE
O.K Just say I am a salad bar and a green grocer wants to leave some brochures in my store and I left some menus in his store. That would be seen as relevant content and mutually beneficial right ?
Some Questions ?
- Do search engines like or not like it ?
- Does back linking increase rankings if done correctly ?
- Is back linking good for a traffic boost ?
- Can it damage SEO ?
- Is it fine if I'm linking to another site that is in the same niche as mine ?
I'd really appreciate your comments
Thanks
Dan

Back linking to you site is good as it further justifies your authority to the content you are blogging about. Linking to the outside is also good as it will further justify your content but should not be overdone as it can be considered as Spam by search engines.

Hi Jerome,
Agreed, I plan to do it in moderation, I just want to link to one other site that is more established to help increase my email list.
Appreciate your advice.
Dan
Kyle said it stopped being a factor. And if anything I've learned from a full year of seo blogging, that is to let things come natural and write for the readers.
Linking to authority sites like wikipedia is good. Inner linking also good. Try to mix the two.
For everything seo just go to google.com/webmasters
They ARE the SEO, right? They'll tell you everything you need to follow or avoid.
Good luck

Just do it in moderation and do not take too much advantage of it. :)
