Compress Your Images For Speed !

Happy Funday All !

So I ran a speed test in googles page speed tools and got a score of 74 /100 . This score could be better. I think wer'e aiming for 90 -100.

Google will then suggest what images, javascript, minify , leverage caching and other more technical data, I'm still trying to get my head around.

These functions need to be improved to get the most power out of your website helping reduce page loading times and a better user experience. The biggest one is to be on good terms with Mr google !

If youv'e also struggled to figure out why your images are still reporting back that they are not passing the speed test, it could be they need to be scaled or compressed ! I use a FREE Online Tool called compress image.

Somewhere along the line I missed the bus and thought I was onnit by just resizing my images, but it turns out this whole time I never knew about crucial image compression and as a result my site got a crap score. Faceplam Thwakkk !!!

EUREKA Moment !

Today I only figured out that I need to resize my images if needed first then COMPRESS them. This drastically reduced the file size from 250 kb's down to 32 kb with No loss of quality !

You can either use an online tool to compress your images or scroll to the bottom of the speed test page and click on the download optimized image files, then re-upload them to your website and re- run the speed test here: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insi...

If there are other issues in the report which there likely will be, here is a comprehensive guide to get you started: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-dr...

Hope this helps someone out & this gives your sites speed a boost and ultimately puts you on track to getting a higher score for your websites.

Thanks for that. I'm revisiting this issue today and basically becoming overwhelmed. The fixes needed are way beyond my tech skills. Anyway, the image compression factor seems doable. Cheers.

Thanks Dan for sharing this. Really appreciate it.

Wow thanks

Hi Frankie,

Glad you found this info useful.

Let me know how it worked for you :)

Ok well do

Pretty cool man. How'd you even find that speed test?

Hey Eric,

I found it in https://developers.google.com/products/

You can run the test here: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

Just enter your sites url and wait for the results. Once you get the report, you'll see what needs attention on your site. It can be confusing at first, so reach out if you need a hand with the images.

Later bro

Thanks man. I'll look into that.
