Bit of a Scare!
When I checked my Amazon Associates account this morning I saw the Kindle book I'd ordered last night was credited. As I'd clicked through from a link in an email that Amazon had sent me, I didn't expect it would be logged as coming from one of my links. I often click through on these by mistake when editing and had sudden visions of being 'struck off' the Associates scheme.
I sent an apologetic email to the Associates helpline and have just received an understanding response (probably automated) that said:
'We appreciate that you notified us about this ordering mistake, and we understand that you did not order through your own links intentionally.
In the future, you may want to clear the cache and cookies on your browser if you have been working on your links in the last 24 hours. These cookies will also tag personal orders to your account.
The advertising fees earned on your order will be removed before any payment is issued.
Thank you for your continued interest in the Associates Programme.'
So - not struck off. Phew. Lesson learned but a bit miffed at having to clear my cache and cookies in future. Now, I'll have to remember all my passwords. Sigh.

Normally you won't be kicked out of Amazon for ordering from your own link, they just don't give you the commision. When I order, I always go here to WA, find a website from a member and go in to Amazon that way. Then I am sure I don't use my own link, and someone here can get the commision.
I will do the same - I used to always order through my University link so they got some money, but there are more deserving bods here! As long as we are not inciting each other to use our links, I guess it's legit. Thanks.
Wonderful that You noticed that very quickly Sarah, Scares like that will get the heart pounding for sure.
Thank You for sharing your experience so that anyone who reds this post will know what to do if they also have this occur.
