Online Broadcasting Software - Part IV - Settings

This short post will introduce the "Settings" tab of the "Controls" column in OBS. The "Controls" column in OBS is just that. This is where you adjust every part of your video. The "Settings" tab is at the bottom right of Controls.

Clicking on this tab opens a menu with all the preferences for a video production.

The tabs are self-explanatory. The preferences in each tab are easy to understand. Once a menu under a tab is opened, it is just a matter of selecting a setting. There is one setting in the general tab that is important as you begin to use OBS.

This menu will open under "General". The "Recording Path" allows you to create the folder in which all work that you do on OBS will automatically be stored. You can see my folder. When you have created a file folder for storing your OBS work, hit "Browse". When that folder comes up, you simply click on it and everything you do on OBS will be stored there.

Continue to mess around with the program by opening tabs with both a left and right click. See what happens. Figure out what settings you want to try.

• Create a new folder for your OBS work.
• Open the "Settings" tab in the "Controls"column of OBS.
• Open the "General" tab in the menu that opens.
• Click on "Browse" in "Recording Path" in the menu that opens.
• Find the folder that you created for you OBS work and click on it.
• You will see that folder in "Recording Path."

You have created a folder for your OBS files. These files can be linked together to form a video or slide show. The next post will demonstrate how to create a video using images from you computer, text and a gif used as a greating.
