Father's Day and the Future!

This is my Pop many years ago. Relaxing for a moment while unloading the family Nash Rambler Station Wagon at a cottage in southern Ontario that he had just finished building. I am sure, while he was working, I was off splashing in the lake or fishing.

The first time I saw the place I was 5. I have been there every year since up until a few years. But, Pop's children, my sisters and me, our children and their children have enjoyed the place year after year. Today, we sold it.

The picture makes me sad, but also happy in the memories that he created for all of us over more that 70 years. That's what being a father is all about. Doing now for the future of our kids and their kids. Giving now so that our kids and their kids want to give in the future.

I miss him, but I remember him. I am thankful for his love and influence every day of my life. My kids are already sending Father's Day texts. Hey, it's a modern world. We are going out to dinner together. I hope I have given them some of what Pop gave me.

Happy Father's Day everyone who is building, teaching, guiding, paying, correcting and loving kids and grandkids into the future. Two lessons my Pop taught me that I will never forget are "let the saw do the work" and "keep on fishin".

Hi, Jim

To me, that picture would be more valuable than gold, as I’m sure it is to you!

You can look at it and have great memories for hours, so some picture are worth much than a thousand words.

Even though you sold the house it’s really the same concept.

Have a great time tonight and Happy Father’s Day! 🎉😎

Hi Jim,

What great memories you have, thank you for sharing them with us. Seeing your dad smoking the pipe brought back memories as so many men smoked on them back in the day.

I know it must have been sad to sell the place, but it reminds me of that saying you can never go home. It isn't that the place isn't there, it's the folks who you spent magical time with aren't there anymore, or everyone changed so much it just can't be that way anymore.

I laughed at let the saw do the work.

Happy Fathers day,

Jason
