Zoom settings
I want to talk about zoom settings
I want to talk about zoom settings because it has occupied my time the last couple of days. One month in at WA, I have got two websites up and running and I am really happy with them: http://www.elegantmenswatches.com and http://www.hempthusiasm.com
I have a theme that works just right for me
After much trial and error I settled for inkblot. Works well for both my websites I reckon. It is responsive (responds to the media it is being viewed on: desk top, lap top, cell phone, tablet). It has quite a lot of options in the customize department ...like it.
Have one issue with it which I have taken up with Wordpress; I have a background image in my editor - don't know how it got there, can't get it out. Very distracting when I am trying to type. Seems others are having similar issues with that theme judging by the other queries I read at the Wordpress official site. Anyway the sites are looking just how I want them.
Then CRASH!!! My whole world is falling apart
One month in and I just remember something. I have my browser zoom setting on 150%. It has been like that for ever. I like to be able to sit back and read, see things big. Then I think, hang on! - all that work that I have done customizing my websites that is looking good to me looks like a postage stamp to everyone else!!! Everyone I have asked to take a look at my websites have been looking at postage stamps!
How anyone can operate at 100% I will never know
I bite the bullet and click on view, set my zoom at 100%. Woah - the WA site looks like it is on the other side of the room. I log into my sites and it is worse than I anticipated. Impact - ZERO. My beautiful header images (which I thought looked like a department store window) don't even go the full width of the page.
I go to the font and pump that up about 25+% ...ok that increases the size of everything on my site except the images.
....add new header images (a bit bigger) - mmm looks a bit better but still only makes it 3/4 of the way across the page. Disappointing, my department store window is gone. Previewed so many other themes to get a full width header but they all suck compared to inkblot.
....edited all my posts and pages (not huge in number at this stage) to increase the size of my images.
Then I have a rethink
Just when I have got all that done I am thinking - hang on, am I the only one who views everything on zoom? I have set it up so it is satisfactory to my eye, but to anyone viewing it on zoom it is going to be huge.
Cutting to the chase
Bottom line is I have been back in there and moderated all my enlarging so it is ok on my eye at 100% ....but not so bad at 125%.
Hoping that is going to work. Need to get back to the training and writing content. Still crying about my header image. Between training and blogging I am going to check out every single theme. When I find one I like as much but with a full width header image inkblot is out of there. Sob ....I loved inkblot.
Two steps forward and one step back - story of my life.
Later friends .......Andrew

Great job they look great I did notice some thing was up but I couldn't figure it out, that eas it, a little bigger is good.
Took a look at both sites and understand what you say about the headers, still look good, but, yes........ My comp is at 100% and I loved the size of your fonts. (I use large fonts on my site too) I could lay back, relax and read everything on your sites without any problems. Wish everybody would think of this while writing. The size of your photos are perfect by the way. Well done
Thanks for the feedback Marith ...it is good to get someone else's perspective on it .......Andrew

Hahaha sorry but that is quite funny actually, so easy to think we are doing an awesome job and then realize that we have made a bloop. The site do look good though.
