Important! Don't Delete Your Old Domain
Move your Domain without losing ranking.
Hey Y'all,
I know you all are having an incredible day. What could be better than working towards financial independence? Sure it gets tough at times , but keep your eye on the prize and keep on digging.
I have seen the question come up many times in the last few days. I thought I would add some food for thought.
" I moved my siterubix.com Domain to one that I purchased. How do I delete the old Domain? "
The short answer is DON'T. Not for a while at least. There are many things like 301 redirects going on behind the scenes. Depending on the amount of information you have it could take Google a while to crawl all of your post and pages and associate them to their new home.
Your URL is your address. Just like the change of address form at the post office things happen behind the scenes to get your mail routed to your new abode.
Like the post office Google also has a change of address form in Google webmaster Search Console.
It is important when moving your website to fill out Google's Change of Address Tool.
This will help the little google bots find and crawl you pages/posts quicker.
I normally don't share information from other sites (we have all that we need here) but there are several videos from Matt Cutts on this page that address this subject. They are very informative. These can be found in Google Webmaster Search Console with some digging around but they are all neatly packaged here. Matt Cutts videos on moving Domains without losing rankings
To sum it all up when moving your Domain leave the old one intact. What is it hurting? Unless you are pushing the limit of 25 hosted Domains and 25 free Domains what is the rush?
Most important remember to notify Google of the move!!
Google's Change of Address Tool!
Y'all ROCK! Now go kick some internet butt!
Until next time,
