To get an egg
I am one that enjoys the lessons of nature and this is one that hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday. Here is the lesson:
About a week ago my mom brought me 21 dozen fresh farm eggs. They are so much better than the ones you get in the store. At any rate, I got to thinking about this yesterday so I called my mom to ask her two (2) questions. Question 1-How old are the chicks when you got them? Question 2-How long did it take before you saw any fruit, hen fruit that is? I mean eggs?
The answer to the first question was 3 days old when they were shipped throughthe USPS.
The answer to question number two was 5 months. This got me thinking.
So, we have to buy the chicks, feed them day after day for five months before we see any kind of results. Yes. But after five months, they are laying more eggs than she can keep up with. So, I help her out and gladly eat a few myself.
Here is the lesson for me. IT TAKES TIME. So don't give up. Suppose after 2 months of spending money on chicken feed and not see any results, they quit. Without question, they would lose everything they put into the project. I have to learn to do the work and be careful not to quit. You will get results. As a farm boy from way back, I was able to see and be a part of nature in a real way. This is one of such a lesson. As I grew up we had over 400 chickens. We had to gather eggs everyday and take them to market. But I learned that a chicken has to have time to grow before it will produce. In my minds eye I can see the chickens, pigs (hogs) cows, calves and bulls we raised. Wow, what a time.
Conclusion, remember this story of nature and give yourself time.
My friend, work hard, and give it time to produce. Thank you, Dr. Bob

Hi Dr. Bob, Your point is well taken. My niece lives in Vermont and she's raising chickens and everything else. Just brought me a basket full of blue eggs. Wow!
Good post Dr. Bob. Sounds like you should be promoting the 'how to build a chicken coop' e-book!
What a great analogy!!! If I would spend as much time feeding my chickens as I did checking for eggs - I am sure they would be much healthier!!
I will keep feeding, because of this post. Thanks
First, I would like to say congratulations! Second, I want to say to you and everyone else that this is success that is well deserved. You have worked very hard, stuck to your guns, and persevered through a lot of doubt that was placed on you.
You deserve this fully, and I truly am honored to have been able to witness this journey as you've taken it. I value your friendship, the conversations, and the many nights spent bouncing ideas off of one another.
Now I look forward to seeing you reach even further out there and gain even more traction in additional niches while finding more success and freedom. Good luck to you!
